RE: DeSantis is out...

Pray tell me who is there that can really stand up and be counted to keep Trump out and defeat Biden.

Maga (Make America Great Again) voters’ real obsession is not banning books, or battling wokeness; it’s worshipping Donald Trump.sigh

I'm glad I'm not alone then Track. Actually this spirituality serves me well as I can often see right through some people.hug

RE: Dreams

I know most people will scoff at this comment Track but I'm a tad psychic and had a dream about a Ferris wheel disaster and the very next day it happened.

RE: When peaceful protests fall on deaf ears

Just re-read your post and misconstrued your comment.

Yes we do set out with good intentions re who we vote for,but sometimes the losers of the poll can cause just as much destruction.

America is a classic example of this .The world is divided in more ways than one Luke and all the clap trap taking place will not resolve the very deep issues that some countries have with each other.sigh

RE: When peaceful protests fall on deaf ears

The population doesn't make false promises the politicians do.sigh

RE: Around My Community

I used to go scuba diving underneath the arch back in my youth.

This is Swallow Falls in the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales .Not large but a beautiful area to visit.

RE: When peaceful protests fall on deaf ears

@ Luke

Re my comment in the above response

"I have just posted on another blog re the realities of the World today and in my humble opinion...

It was this blog"

It was post 64 .

RE: When peaceful protests fall on deaf ears

Wrong Luke . The point I tried to make is that united is better than divided. Probably a wrong choice of caption as people see it as division.

I actually have no political preference and just draw my opinions from what I feel personally about any given situation.

I've already stated that I don't agree with the influx of refugees ,something that some posters overlook seeking their own agenda.

I have just posted on another blog re the realities of the World today and in my humble opinion all I can see is derision and hate from many of our so called political leaders , and the future is pretty grim for ALL of us .

My age has nothing to do with how I personally see society ,just makes me a tad more perceptive. Having lived through one war,I hope to pass peacefully before we go into another one.handshake

RE: Is it almost curtains for America

Then there are many looking through rose coloured spectacles and blind to the realities Butcher.

George Orwell

“Everyone believes in the atrocities of the enemy and disbelieves in those of his own side, without ever bothering to examine the evidence.”

RE: When peaceful protests fall on deaf ears

Stop going on about Trump .

Do you really believe that this self centred egotistical man can change the direction of our World which is heading towards another World war unless we all come to our senses.

You talk about democracy yet he talks about autocracy. The whole world is in crisis and you think Trump is the saviour. Do me a favour.
doh

RE: When peaceful protests fall on deaf ears

My comment was sarcasm at its worst.I can do nothing about what is taking place but it does not mean that I don't care.

People EVERYWHERE are suffering. I have lived through a war, seen devastation and it's rearing its ugly head yet again. Worrying about refugees ,however trying to anyone not just the Irish, is a drop in the ocean at this precise moment in time.

World War One was instigated by the assassination of just one man,yet countries are killing each other by the thousands here in 2024.We are in a changing world and much of it is not for the good of all.

So whilst I have empathy for what is taking place I also am looking at the bigger picture and I don't like what I see.

Where did you see the word "utopia"

Just for the record I responded to this comment by you on Page 17

Quote "When you say your hospitals are FULL of working foreigners, by what percentage against white English?"

RE: When peaceful protests fall on deaf ears

RE: When peaceful protests fall on deaf ears

Lets get one thing straight here Celtic I'm totally against illegals coming here in their droves I just corrected Grand on the nationalities.

The U.K has always had foreign workers , and lets face it when you consider the amount of British a'holes who are too lazy to get off their backsides but claim benefits we should be grateful. Why we employed people from the Eastern block to pick our veg is beyond me yet Lincolnshire alone is full of them and some run by gangs . Been a problem for years.

Taxi drivers have to be licensed but then again there are those who will abuse this and use their cars pretending to be private hire.Safer to ask for his license if out after dark. Registered taxis have equipment on the dashboard so it's easy to detect. I used to be a V.D.U operator for a Taxi company operating 130 cars after retiring ,that's how I know.

As for hospitals the below link is detailed but factual but also remember that U,K, nationals include legal migrants. Some of our top consultants are foreigners and thank goodness for them as ,of late, the N.H.S. is on a downward slide. It's not about black or white when it comes to care surely.

RE: When peaceful protests fall on deaf ears

If only. Ukranians haven't arrived here by small boats They are here legitimately and legally and many have already returned to Ukraine

Just a sample of what is in this report

Nationalities and demographics of arrivals
Overall, males represented 87% of small boat arrivals in the year ending June 2023. This proportion is similar to the proportion of males each year from 2018 to 2021.

Since January 2018, 75% of small boat arrivals have been adult males aged 18 and over. Around one-sixth (17%) have been children aged 17 and under (see table Irr_02c).

Since January 2018, Iranians have been the most commonly detected nationality making up 21% of all small boat arrivals. They were the top nationality detected in the years 2018 to 2021. However, other nationalities have been appearing in greater numbers since 2020.

In the year ending June 2023, almost half of small boat arrivals were from 2 nationalities - Albanians (26%) and Afghans (21%).

RE: When peaceful protests fall on deaf ears

The U.K. can only patrol its own borders . We are up against human traffickers making money out of other people's misery and in many cases all using unsafe routes. We are also up against human rights people.

There was a mass influx of people into the U.K from places such as Bulgaria and Romania just before Brexit. Now we are dealing with the other end of the scale and there is a vast difference between genuine asylum seekers and refugees as against illegal immigrants trying to get into the country via the back door.

My hospital is full of hard working foreigners from all parts of the world all working and paying their way Many of the taxi drivers are foreign too and all working legally. It's fine to go elsewhere and work to better yourself but only if it's done legally.

RE: When peaceful protests fall on deaf ears

The U.K is not part of the E.U but we are being inundated. We can't do right for doing wrong. If the world was a more stable place to live for some folks then maybe we wouldn't be dealing with the influx.frustrated
