Get off your high horse gal. The allies won the war including America and not forgetting Russia who also suffered tremendous losses.Your debt was paid in full by 2006
The debt was to be paid off in 50 annual repayments commencing in 1950. Some of these loans were only paid off in the early 21st century. On 31 December 2006, Britain made a final payment of about $83m (£45.5m) to the US and about $23.6m to Canada.
You didn't pull England's butt out of the fire in World War 2 The whole of Europe was involved or have you conveniently forgotten about Italy and Mussolini who allied himself with Germany.
On December 7, 1941, Japan staged a surprise attack on Pearl Harbour, decimating the US Pacific Fleet. When Germany and Italy declared war on the United States days later, America found itself in a global war.
Carry on with your lauding of the U.S.A your adopted country, but for goodness sake give it a rest on attacking the U.K in almost every blog you post .
MOSCOW, March 13 (Xinhua) -- Russia will deploy its troops and strike systems near Finland and Sweden's borders following their accession to NATO, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday in an interview with local media.
So you want to withdraw from a treaty that was instigated by America ,for America and Europe.
Who originally proposed NATO?
In May of 1948, Republican Senator Arthur H. Vandenburg proposed a resolution suggesting that the President seek a security treaty with Western Europe that would adhere to the United Nations charter but exist outside of the Security Council where the Soviet Union held veto power.
That 's an extremely selfish attitude about cost cutting when one compares the size of America to the rest of Europe. We are all struggling at the moment in case you haven't noticed. No thanks to our dear friend Putin of course.
Can the people who agree with Trump's claims that NATO members aren't paying their 'bills' please be more specific? Which countries owe how much, to whom and for what? Before you put pen to paper ,as yet ,Ukraine is NOT a member of NATO.
Answers on a postage stamp please.
Militarily and economically, the U.S. is a hugely formidable power. It has the largest nuclear arsenal on earth and continues to be the largest economy in the world. Yet, without its allies in Asia, and above all without those in Europe, the U.S would be a much diminished superpower. For instance, most Western countries purchase their arms and military equipment from the U.S.and that could possibly be diminished if the U.S pulls out of NATO under Trump.
By the way Sweden became NATO's 32nd Ally on 7 March 2024.
I haven't a clue what you are rambling on about to be honest. I've been off site for 3 years and only came back recently. My best friends are where I live not on C.S.I live in the real world not on here and am not responsible for what others choose to write.
I've had the finger pointed at me on occasions and also kicked to the kerb for standing up against antagonists.
I've noticed almost a dozen people missing in action from both here and in the Forums so I guess the C.S broom is in action cleaning up the site.
I've stopped taking offence at other people's remarks and become more selective ,for want of a better word, as to whom I respond to and when to click the "sign out" button.
Thinking out loud here Oxy I reckon they need a new Party to liven things up.The American voters are stuck between a rock and a hard place and the U.S. is crying out for some fresh young blood.
The riot began when about 50 citizens attacked a British sentinel. A British officer, Captain Thomas Preston, called in additional soldiers, and these too were attacked, so the soldiers fired into the mob, killing 3 on the spot (a black sailor named Crispus Attucks, ropemaker Samuel Gray, and a mariner named James Caldwell), and wounding 8 others, two of whom died later (Samuel Maverick and Patrick Carr).
Don't you ever get tired of kicking us Brits up the backside.
Not that you were around but take a look at America's past history before you nit pick about us.
Here's a classic example of an attack by the U.S.Army..
In the frigid dawn of January 29, 1863, Sagwitch, a leader among the Shoshone of Bia Ogoi, or Big River, in what is now Idaho, stepped outside his lodge and saw a curious band of fog moving down the bluff toward him across a half-frozen river. The mist was no fog, though. It was steam rising in the subzero air from hundreds of U.S. Army foot soldiers, cavalry and their horses. The Army was coming for his people.
Over the next four hours, the 200 soldiers under Colonel Patrick Connor’s command killed 250 or more Shoshone, including at least 90 women, children and infants. The Shoshone were shot, stabbed and battered to death. Some were driven into the icy river to drown or freeze. The Shoshone men, and some women, meanwhile, managed to kill or mortally wound 24 soldiers by gunfire.
Historians call the Bear River Massacre of 1863 the deadliest reported attack on Native Americans by the U.S. military—worse than Sand Creek in 1864, the Marias in 1870 and Wounded Knee in 1890.
Michael Moore is at it again. This time, Moore breaks down the ill-fated 2016 US Election between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, where the latter won the election. Michael Moore in Trumpland is a live-recording of the one-man show that Moore performed in Midland Theater in Newark, Ohio. The show was done in Moore’s effort to stop Trump from getting re-elected in the 2020 elections, as he conducted a postmortem on Trump’s popularity in Ohio and where democrats had failed the state.
World wide obesity is on the rise. People have forgotten the basic skills of cooking and prefer an easier way of life. Take a ways are the norm.Packed lunches are no more ,pop into Gregg's or grab a big Mac.
I don't scan labels just buy sensibly and eat fresh food. Seems to me to be an age thing to be honest as most people I know that are my age are not overweight.
It's not about being a meat eater or vegan either ,it's about eating sensibly.
Visa Overstays. A significant number of new illegal immigrants, and perhaps a majority before the current border surge, were admitted legally on a temporary visa or under the visa waiver program and then did not leave the country when the time limit expired. DHS for FY 2022 showed 850,000 foreign visitors overstayed their authorised stay in that year. The total overstay rate for 2022 was 3.64 percent, which is more than double the rate of recent years. Of course, not all of these individuals stay long term, and there is always some number of people who leave the country but their departure was not properly recorded.Still, the current level of overstays is much higher than in 2021
