ULTRA PROCESSED FOODS
According to recent research, UPF products are responsible for 32 harmful effects to health.Cancer, heart disease, adverse mental health, early death.
Examples of these foods are, sugary cereals, protein bars, fizzy drinks, ready meals, fast food, packaged baked goods.
UPF products tend to contain, colours, emulsifiers, flavours, high amounts of sugar, saturated fats, salt and preservatives.
Some of us, no doubt, already realise this and try to avoid such products, but many people never look at ingredients and just stick their purchases in a shopping trolley.
Perhaps governments should get involved and issue guidelines to food manufacturers to improve the quality of their products, particularly when young children are exposed to poor quality food content.
Parents have a responsibility for the health of their kids.

I thought it strange about protein bars, but presumably it's the additives amongst the ingredients that make them questionable. Maybe if consumed on a regular basis they would not be healthy.
To read the ingredients one needs a magnifying glass!!
Most important to avoid:
Additives, such as Aspartame, often disguised as a E... number - just to confuse people.
Preservatives such as Citric Acid - which is not lemon juice, as one may think, but a mold!!
Now, for the vegetarians (like me), what about Gelatine?
And what about ze BUGS???
There are many more which would take me all night to list but, hey, let's not get paranoid!
Oh, and Coke/Pepsi...
One can contains 10 spoons of sugar!!!
Good for the diabetics!.
And the diet one contains Aspartame.

Gelatine is so purified, there is little or no "Animal" left!It is used, among other-things in the Capsules of Medications and Dietary Supplements!!!
Aspartame I avoid wherever I can,I rather go with Sugar, the "Lesser"of the two evils!
In a year or two we might need a Microscope to read the Ingredients on Packages!
Bugs? Schwab can put them where the Sun doesn't shine!!! If they become common "Food",we will find out how many People are actually allergic to Crustaceans, and I bet it will be a considerable amount of People!

You must be joking!!!
Do you really believe that they act in our best interests and want people to be healthy?
It's up to us to discern..and then decide

If your protein bar consists of puffed white rice and a few seeds held together with a refined sugar and fructose syrup gloop then it will count as ultra-processed.
I've just spent a week transferring antibiotic powder into an ultra-processed wood pulp capsule for that very reason.
As an off topic aside, how refined the cadaver is, isn't really the primary factor in ethical, or religious objections to killing animals.

Besides, not all Antibiotics come in Capsules either.

Just askin'.
With regard to whether governments should intervene in food production, we are just left in the hands of the food industry who just wish to make a profit by using anything to enhance the taste of foodstuffs, knowing that addiction to sugary and salty concoctions sells the stuff.
Just askin'.
I don't scan labels just buy sensibly and eat fresh food. Seems to me to be an age thing to be honest as most people I know that are my age are not overweight.
It's not about being a meat eater or vegan either ,it's about eating sensibly.
Which brings us back to the fact that most people don't bother to check ingredients and so there is a health and obesity problem. Left alone, it will just get worse and I am sure that children of migrants who once had a healthy diet will become westernised and fall into the trap of tempting quick high calorie, fatty sugary foods.
Is that really the issue with respect to ultra-processed foods, the subject of your blog?
Assuming all food is processed unless you nibble it off the plant unwashed, lick up insects, or sink your choppers into a fish raw and wriggling, etc., it strikes me that if you can't tell the difference between an ultra-processed food item and a processed one, you have entirely missed the premise of your own blog.
Protein bars were the product specified in a report. I didn't chose the product. I was just trying to think of an explanation for their inclusion. If you're happy gorging on them, that's fine with me.

Alcohol and tobacco products already have warnings and are taxed.
What does the FDA do about Ultra Processed foods?
How does the American government deal with obesity? Why is there an obesity problem in USA?
You can tax items like tobacco and alcohol, but should the taxes be higher? In the UK, Tax on cigarettes has dramatically increased to stop people smoking. People turn to vaping instead, but now they are thinking about taxing that.
What about the freedom to live your life how you wish?
Buy a packet of nuts instead.
Just think of all those extra ingredients you get for your money.
