RE: 78 days

Jimnastics ~ I saw Obamas speech and also his wifes one. Terrific, no matter what leader you are voting for , nobody of any level of intelligence could fail to see the honesty in these two speeches.

RE: Bruce

Daniella ~ A friend of mine had a parrot who flew free around his house and when he was having his breakfast, flakes with dried raspberries in them with milk.... the parrot would come on his shoulder and nick the dried raspberries.

Another friend of mine had a parrot and stupidly fed it some parsley which of course is poison to them, and killed it. Painting a room they are in can kill too as well as it kills goldfish.

so sad for Crazy it is nice to have a pet to come home to.

RE: Bruce

Crazy ~ So sorry to hear about your parrots passing. I have always had pets since being a child. As Germanspitz says, you have to be an animal owner /lover to understand the awful loss, and especially when you live alone.

I know parrots are so intelligent and affectionate too. I do understand how you feel Crazyheart. Let the tears flow. hug

RE: Do you believe about Karma ?

Snowlynx ~ I have often thought about that. also Atheists and agnostics who can't believe, who are good people and have been decent and helpful and very often lived better lives than those who do believe.
I believe we have no idea of the infinite mercy of our creator. Nobody knows Gods mercy 100%

RE: Real life if Biden elected

Soonyule know /Olde guy
I was simply putting what I know about North Korea in to an American or any countries way of life and how it would change it.
I forget that somebody would come to take your pet dog and in North Korea you are only allowed use so much electricity and can be jailed if you breach this, so no Microwaves, and some other electrical devices are banned.
The police call on houses and do a raid looking for monkeys [which some people keep as pets. ] and also dogs.

I was trying to say in a way that probably did not work, that with all that is going on with Covid and politics and the lies in US that we still have freedoms we take very much for granted. This was not to try and trivialize the current situation... a piece of relief really. It was not appreciated but that's life, no probs. roll eyes

RE: Drip down, O heavens, from above, And let the clouds pour down righteousness. Isaiah 45:8

Philipsen ~ Don't worry what others think. What do you think, in your gut about what happened. Your creator is with you in spirit at all times. It is when you are at your very lowest that the holy spirit [the essence , the healer ] is by your side.

Sometimes a piece from the Bible can just come in to your head, or suddenly you feel a calm come over you.... it is healing and uplifting and everything will be alright Philpsen for you. I promise.
Work hard, save hard and get yourself a place to live where you can feel it is home.

When I lost my home in 80s through no fault of my own. I had to move in to a bedsit which is one room with a shower and loo in another room. It was clean and bright and I was very very happy there. It was modest and I made friends there I still have to this day. So I have no doubt things get better from here on in.

cheers

RE: Do you believe about Karma ?

xinchen ~ I don't believe in Karma as being a Christian I believe Christ died on the cross for my sins. That doesn't give me a ticket to hurt and use others and avoid my taxes etc.,

So Karma ~ In Ireland we call it Murphy's law, if you do a bad deed it will come back to bite ya. wink beer

RE: 76 Days

miclee ~ with our wind and cold in winter and incessant rain, most owners have a wee coat on the dog. I am getting a Therapy Dog one from the association so that i can bring him on the Bus and Luas and in to shopping centres with me. applause

RE: 76 Days

Oldeguy ~ I will be going to the Bookies to bet on it. I am not a betting person but
I fancy some extra cash for the Winter for bills and for my new dog. [a winter coat for the dog ]. laugh

RE: Apparently, Trump doesn't care, if he kills MORE people.

Kornbluth ~ yes you are correct there, it is his flatterers that are more dangerous than Trump himself. He will be gone, of that I am sure. He looks very shook these days, tired, exhausted, it has to get to him.

RE: Apparently, Trump doesn't care, if he kills MORE people.

jim ~ Very true. you would imagine that coming up to election time he would be trying to be on his best behaviour and actually taking good advise.

RE: Man kicked in the head in Portland by BLM after trying to aid trangender

Soonyuleknow ~ Thanks for the link. thumbs up

RE: Intelligent and funny.

Harb ~ Yes, of course Julie Walters, I loved her in Dinner ladies and most other films but live she is just fun and totally herself and honest. Seinfeld all the characters in that.
Curb your enthusiasm .
I am not a great fan of stand up comedy. I find it too contrived... can't put my finger on it. Intelligent and funny is attractive in a woman, and this is not my blog but it is an aphrodisiac in men too. Somebody without a good sense of humour is a no no.

RE: 19th amendment centenial

Oldeguy ~ That's something to be very proud of. Women who made a real difference in a time when womens place was at the kitchen sink. They were strong but not tough. Young people have it so easy, the suffragettes had such a fight to get that vote.
So many take for granted. Good blog and a happy one. I hope her photos has pride of place in your home. I'm sure it has. thumbs up

RE: Something to get off my chest (rage blog)

Philipsen ~ I saved up a good deal in the past number of years... you just have to write down the things you can live without. Buying coffee, bring your own water, it is the little things.... use the library instead of buying books. I buy some second hand clothes and do work on them.... I am getting rid of my cable T.V. as dont watch it much and only a few good stations. Getting a Saorview TV which means it won't be cable. That will save me over 100euro per month.
As a woman, I have stopped going to hairdresser and cut my own hair in a shoulder length bob. I have a proper scissors, that saves me 80euro per month and 160euro per 6wks for colour. I have lesser amount of clothes as you don't really need so much.

Buy old furniture and upcycle with paint. people leaving a house often just throw stuff away, you can get a sofa for nothing her on donedeal and gumtree, free to good home as they want to get rid of the one they have to make room for new one....

These things don't seem like a lot but it all adds up. you can do it and you will have your own roof. Housing associations, social housing, think about this avenue too.

Best of luck to you .thumbs up wine

RE: Something to get off my chest (rage blog)

Jac ~ I'm glad you told me about the meters. Somebody did say they had them installed and that the amount of money that was gone during summer just because the meter was still ticking, actually used up units.... a con.

I think it's really for people who can't budget. I will stick to paying the bills online. We have very high Gas and Electricity bills plus phone. I still have a landline, as many old neighbours I used to live near are friends and they use landlines.

I lost my home when a very good job went during the awful downturn here and I had to sell my house. I have a housing association place too. I am not too keen on area as very built up. Used to be country, on the mountain and now it's a rash of apartments. This is a cottage. If mine, I would change windows, put in good wooden floors and treble glazing so no need for heating. I would have it a passive house and it does not cost the earth. I am very lucky as so many are squeezed with mortgages.

Only downside is, can't get a builder in to check things, can't change doors or anything without permission. Kitchen is a dump, but I might go and get a new one as have been saving for a few years like a church mouse. The neighbours aren't that friendly and don't like animals but that never stopped me having them. You are SO lucky to have nice views.

RE: The Begining of the End

The Plot against the president. And Michael Cohen, the guy who serves behind the counter gives me weird looks.... laugh

RE: The Begining of the End

Chancer ~ you know me, I am honest, had great hopes for Trump, recently am disillusioned now though... I always like to hear both sides, 3 actually, his side the others side and the truth.
I will have a dander over to book shop in Dundrum Centre and have a look for that book whilst getting Michael Cohens one. Two for the price of one and a half at the moment. Thanks Chancer and thanks for always taking the time to expain things in a concise way and not attacking me verbally when I show doubts about 1trump. I mean this sincerely. handshake

RE: Something to get off my chest (rage blog)

Jac ~ have you a landlord/Tenant advisory agency ? I used run one so I had to study landlord tenant law and also landlaw and being able to detect dampness and the rules of letting. She was bang way out of order and she should have compensated you and had you known, you could have brought her through the small claims court of just via a solr. who was good at landlord tenant act.
Under Irish /UK law 1980/82 Landlord/tenant act you are entitled to peaceful and quiet possession of the property. Your bedroom should never be entered by the landlady or landlord. This in violation of your privacy [peaceful possession ] plus basic wear and tear is allowed for.
I pity the present tenant if she has any as people like this don't tend to change.
There are agencies in some parts of UK, not sure about Wales. wave

RE: Apparently, Trump doesn't care, if he kills MORE people.

Jim ~ Horrific and scary. We don't do medicine by mail. Except for those who get vitamins and the like from U.S.
I think death will ensure if this continues. Heart tablets, BP meds, all need continuity to be effective. Surely Trump has advisors who would have told him about this ?

What about Social welfare cheques or Tax return cheques, lots of things are going to be delayed, plus changes in hospital appointments, usually come by letter too.

It will cause mayhem. Not a good look for Mr. Trump. No forethought.confused

RE: Apparently, the new math

Doesdare ~ of course, the Bakers Dozen. I did think maybe it was how Americans are terrified of the unlucky number 13 and don't have 13th floor apartments or in hotels
I will wait for the answer as I just don't quite understand. Dyscalculia is not somebody with a low IQ [mine is v respectable thanks ] , it is a huge difficulty with numbers and with IT and technical stuff. Makes life hard in Banks until they get to know you.

Thirteen and then 12. The Thirteen means something and I don't know what. That is my answer.mumbling

RE: Something to get off my chest (rage blog)

Jac ~ Thanks for the laugh on ramping up the landladies bill. My friend was a right cow when she was landlady. She'd come in and say 'what's the heat doing on ? it's not cold' and it would be freezing. Constantly cutting down and I was paying full rent for an ok bedroom and never really felt the living room or kitchen was mine.
Yep, I should have left gas on, hot water on, but I didn't. We are still friends who meet up once a week but recently she said she was getting in foreign students when pandemic is over , I just said 'God help them'.

Humidifier ~ Thanks Jac. I think the rating a would mean not too high on electricity. I have thought about getting a pay as you go in the hall. You can put 50euro in per 2 weeks. I will go and have a look in Harvey Normans or one of our shops. They do make a difference, it's the hum I hate so a silent one would be nice. I can get a musty smell in my bedroom and it drives me mad. So unhealthy. I use aromatherapy oils and all type of things to get rid of the dank damp smell. Thanks gain Jac.

RE: 78 days

Oldeguy ~applause So no more infighting about the Democrats /Trump and Joe Biden having Dementia what will they write about on the blogs , because U.S. political blogs are taking up about 85% of it .

RE: Little seeds of sadness

Harb ~ I'm afraid to cry. Seriously. The last time I let the tears come it was like a Tsunami, i cried and cired, and sobbed and couldn't breathe, it was like a dam had been opened. I was exhausted after the release of all that pent up stuff and fell in to a long sleep with red eyes.
I sing when i feel very sad. From the stomach like i was taught, sad songs, ubeat songs, it's a great release of emotion. crying

RE: The Begining of the End

laugh I used to dream of going to live in U.S. I even got a job there, but Visa was messy. I kinda like the way our voting works here better. beer Slainte.
Can't wait for that Book , it will be in tomorrow [Cohen ] banana

RE: As my many fans know.....

laugh 'At the very vast Vierk estate ' two adjectives together, mmmmmm you should have gone for president Vierk.laugh head banger

RE: The Begining of the End

miclee ha ha scold but Biden and Trump don't have what Putin has, a Vaccine for Covid19 which is at stage 2 and he wants to release it and has been given to his daughter [one of them ] and it's the cure.
Our experts say it would need a year more for the phase 3 trial to see if it really does. Just a little bit of information. grin

I don't believe Trump is leading, certain news stations and pro trump papers will say that.

RE: Apparently, the new math

Jim ~ I suffer dyscalculia so I don't get it. Is it some type of a joke I am missing ?doh

RE: The Begining of the End

Oldeguy ~ I was in my Bookstore today to collect Michael Cohens book on Trump and
having read a good few paragraphs in the paper on various sections of the book, this man does have much to worry us about when he writes about his once hero Trump.

I also noticed, for an Irish shop, there were 6 Books [all hardback and expensive about Trump in some shape or form. Non were pro Trump.

As I said before I am no expert but I have watched US politics and I prefer to read than watch those awful News stations that vie with one another on Trump, one is so obviously biased towards him. That is not news, it is propaganda.

A news stations should be objective and factual.

That's my pennys worth. I don't think he is getting in and as for the other candidate... well uh oh

RE: Aliens with vaccine

miclee ~ rolling on the floor laughing Yea, That profile was written in the last century, in my life before C.S. where I had to toughen it up a bit to survive. Still very gentle underneath though and always with animals. We have a check out man in my local Tesco supermarket with vile bad breath. I refuse to queue in my mask, can even get the stench with the bloody mask.
So, you were reading my profile, not photo shopped, age correct, Gentle may have to be changed to 'before CS' There are Aliens out there but I wouldn't be inclined to say that in front of the pseudo scientists ~ psychiatrists , they' stuff me with chemical lobotomy type drugs. wine drinking
