He's hanging on in there but I suspect I have an agonizing decision to make soon. He's almost 16 now and that's unusual for his breed but over the last few months he really has gone downhill.
He's had a great life though and brought a smile to many peoples faces along the way....
There are some clinical scientists who believe that many illnesses are in fact a product of the mind, the body's reaction to the mind could be far greater than we ever imagined.
Descartes believed that statement referred to a fundamental truth, in fact it contains a most basic error. He was equating thinking with being and identity with thinking.
Thought needs consciousness, but consciousness doesn't need thought.
Buddha never claimed to be and is never looked upon as being a God. In fact he said, don't take my word on these teachings, try them, question them, see for yourself.
Posted this in the say anything thread yesterday, maybe more fitting to post it here.
I've seen Keith Emerson many times in the days of The Nice, quite an amazing electric keyboard player...pretty accomplished pianist also, as is displayed in their cover of Tim Hardin's, Hang on to a Dream.

Love is a name for the pure awareness of consciousness when it is free of all desirous attachment, free of all desire to posses, hold on, own or acquire. (free from delusions.)
"Delusion: A mental factor that arises from inappropriate attention and functions to make the mind unpeaceful and uncontrolled. There are three main delusions: ignorance, desirous attachment, and anger. From these arise all the other delusions, such as jealousy, pride, and deluded doubt."
This is not the same thing as being delusional, it has a completely different meaning.
They are part of human nature, we all suffer from delusions, ignorance being one of the worst delusions, it doesn't follow that we have to accept them....our true nature is that of love.
The human race in the main, is suffering from inherent insanity, fueled by greed, ignorance, self cherishing and many similar delusions. Personal growth is seen as achieving wealth, possessions and power when in fact, no real growth is achieved. Love is seen as something to be found and bestowed upon those who will reciprocate, when in fact it should be given freely to all.
Apart from all that, pride is a delusion in itself.
Real love is unconditional. Sometimes referred to as disinterested love or agape, it's when love is given to others, without the shadow of self interest lurking beneath the surface, when nothing is expected in return.
It's rarely displayed, but ironically it's our true nature, we all possess it, it's our true state of being.
