Yes its really frustrating, this place is a hidden gem. To make matters worse, not far from there is an old gritstone quarry, used for many years by local (and not so local) climbers. I use it quite a lot, and being so close to the city its used by youth clubs and schools to introduce young people to the sport. Sadly the quarry is also on the same route.
On a positive note though, the quarry does belong to the BMC (Brithish Mountaineering Council} and they are adding their weight to to the protest.
There are four other alternative routes. The other four would not impact on the environment as much as this one, but being more costly it has been decided this is the preferred route. The fight is not over by a long way though. Its a pity, the batteries in my camera ran out yesterday, otherwise i could have taken many more pics. It was a beautiful day.
