If anyone wonders why society is becoming more violent then look no further than a judge thinking an innocent man's life is worth no more than three and a half years!
For those with an interest in this subject might I recommend the latest book by Lionel Shriver (author of 'we need to talk about Kevin') which deals with this issue.
It's at least partly based on her real life brother who was morbidly obese. It's a good read.
