We seldom have sun here. This summer was exclusively sunny, but now it's autumn and dark. A solar powered anything will run out of power the very first day :)
I don't have a cat. Nonetheless, all cats hunt mice and small birds, but not every cat would challenge a rat. My neighbours' cat visit now and then, but it doesn't change the situation.
Thanks for advise, I've checked and there's a trap that is activated before the rodent would rich the bait. Yes, man is smarter than rat. Or than dog, for that matter :)
I am wondering though, why peope keep comparing themselves with rats? Are humans and rats assumed to be equals?
Live catch is out of options. I catch it alive and then what? I don't want an animal to suffer, but I'm not so fond of this particular rat as not to get it killed quickly. Desturbing smell is another matter; I have no linen spray, though. Would perfume do?
Thanks for suggestion, will update my looking-for "shopping list":
a rich and famous Apollo, who's aging well; has to be able, and even eager, to fix hick-ups in the sewer and kill rats by leading them to the nearest beach for self-drowing, all 30 km as crow flies...
Actually, yes. Have googled and it seems to be the best method: quick and cheap. Will wait to late autumn, when hedgehogs go into hibernation and buy a rat trap.
Too expensive. If the rat was inside my flat, extermination by a professional would be covered by insurance. But for an outside rat I'd have to pay. And there's no guarantee that another rat next year would find the space under my deck attactive for a nest.
I've heard there is a device that scares away rodents. Any experience of that?
I have a little platform / deck at my back door and now a rat made its home under it. I wouldn't mind if it lived somewhere in forrest, but I do not want it as a close neighbour. A method that kills it quick and painlessly would be the best solution.
Before someone recommends poison: we have hedgehogs here and neighbours let their cats out. I don't want to cause any collateral damage.
Nyah, she sniffed between his legs and learned everything about him, every single detail, passwords and visa card code and medical chart. Even the text of that dirty text he sent to his ex from a borrowed phone :D
The sad thing is: he never would learn anything about his dog if he kept sniffing between her legs all day long. So he tries to compete in intelligence (ha-ha), instead of sniffing. Cheap, innit?
I also used to keep to EU forum, but some time ago there appeared a rat, who snitches people to mods. Spoilt the place for me. Before we never reported anything.
Then for a forum to live you need quite a few intelligent and engaged participants. There are some, but perhaps not enough to satisfy your idea of glory :)
Quite possible. Many switched from stationary machines with a proper keyboard to smaller devices and there's only so many words you can type with one finger, as I'm doing now. Requires a lot of patience. I have an experience of a forum that died when significant number of participants acquired smartphones.
Need practical advice - how to get rid of a rat?
Obviously unsuccessful, but we still need to know the active substance and the dosage, in order to avoid doing the same mistake next time.
