Absolutely. But why do some people look at the mountain, in the first place? Out of curiosity? Can be. But why some have that kind of curiosity and some don't? And then not everyone though curious enough to look would get smitten. And of the smitten ones, not everyone would pursue their dream. Why?
Yes, of course, one has to wish it: as success is something that doesn’t just fall on your lap (with very rare exclusions), that something you have to struggle and suffer for in order to achieve.
I'm less likely to respond to a letter without a picture. And even more less likely to respond positively. If I respond, it means that the letter is a lot -- I mean A lot -- above the average and that happens about once in a decade.
No picture means that the person is not willing to be accidentally identified by a passing by -- why? -- often because he's married / in a long-term relationship. (ca 35-40% of any dating site population are married, most of them are men).
Beside being physically disfigured - from birth or by an accident - there's no reason to hide your face.
Physically disfigured individuals have hard enough in the real life and I do understand their desire to remain "faceless" on a dating site, before they established some kind of a contact with another person. Beyond that - no excuse.
A few years ago an emigrant from USA stabbed to death a young woman here when I live. Perhaps, 200 m away. She just happened to be on the same tram as he. I go to the nearest food-store passing the place when it happened.

And I don't understand why people bothers to care in case of "them".

Neither did I, until I've read Krakauer's "Into thin air". And after reading it, I still didn't understand the charm... perhaps, there wasn't any.
Nonetheless, I suddenly discovered in my soul a kind of a drift... or a question that I's asking myself: "Why didn't you climb Everest yet?" and there was no given answer. That I've missed my chance by a huge margin is true, but it is not the point in the context.
Would I dare given the chance -- that's the question. And I'd like to know that the answer is: "Yes".
And I'm looking for the like-minded. No matter what :)
Without Sherpa low and hight altitude porters... well, without them Everest would remain the highest mountain on this very planet that no one has ever climbed. Tenzing Norgay to mention one.
