We are making a semi-traditional meal...turkey, cornbread-stuffing, grilled corn on the cob, mashed potatos & turkey gravy, cranberry sauce, rolls, green bean cassarole, pumpkin pies, eggnog (spiced heavily with delicious rum)....four of us in one kitchen designed for one comfortably, teaching my niece-in-law how to make the dinner...should be fun and interesting. Bring on the rum!
When Micah Hale was approaching seventy-six and was more tired than he dared admit, word reached Honolulu that in Washington the House of Representatives had finally approved annexation by a vote of 209 to 91. That night Micah's vigil began, for at dinner he said to his wife Malama, "We have two more weeks to wait, and then we'll know what the Senate is going to do."
Sorry...this is group therapy and per the rules of the group...you may not leave unless it is to go and get doughnuts and coffee...special requests only....
All personal bathroom breaks, lunch breaks and those silly things like sick leave, personal time off and perks are now condensed into one big package of leave time...it starts promptly at 5pm, unless there is mandatory unpaid overtime and you may enjoy that time off until 7am the next morning when you must report into work one hour early for the mandatory unpaid company meeting....
The unemployment that I receive is completely unequal to any amount that I made while I was working...being unemployed does not mean that bills get paid...it just means one is creative with how one pays their bills, feeds and houses themselves and still tries to be a productive citizen.
Well...I do live in "Lalaland"...and isn't having a senior moment supposed to happen when you act like an adult? NO! I shall never grow up...I'm still a Toys R Us Kid!
I agree that WF's advice is good and so is yours Veritaas. Each resume that I send out has been tailored to the job that I am applying for. I research each company and do follow-ups. I have and still do volunteer work. One of these many days, I will have a job...
If persistence paid off, I would feel a lot better. I have never had problems in the past finding and obtaining employment. However, you should see my job-seeking folder. Over 2000+ jobs applied for and out of that number only 5 companies have responded. Two companies sent "thanks but no thanks;" one company I interviewed with told me I knew more than the owner and he was scared to hire me and the other two told me I was "overqualified."
I have said in the past that I am feel I am luckier than most who are unemployed: no children at home, no car payments (no car), no mortgage to pay, no outstanding bills that I have not made payment arrangements on and I am attending school for a degree.
But there are thousands out there in the same position of being unemployed and for every one job that opens up, there are hundreds who apply. It does become frustrating and sometimes, the hope and persistence just start to wear one down.
RE: What is the height difference YOU (not society etc.) are willing to accept in a potential partner?
My height or above is cool.....but then again, everyone is the same height laying down....
