From what I have read, at around age 13, she heard "heavenly voices" that foretold she would help King Charles VII fight the English and liberate the city of Orleans.

She was tried as a witch and burned at the stake; although she heard voices, she never really claimed it was god.

The first responsibility of being a parent IS to be parent.

I was not my children's friend; I could be friendly towards them. I was not their playmate; although I could play games with them. I was not their cook, housemaid, laundress, seamstress, chauffer, et. al; although I did instruct them in how to perform these daily, weekly, monthly, yearly chores.

They always had everything they needed (love, a home, food, clothing) but they did not have everything they wanted. We talked, yelled, argued, screamed, laughed, cried, hugged, giggled, discussed and were a family. They survived, I survived. They are stable, secure, sarcastic adults living the lives they chose for themselves and I am an empty-nester living the life I chose for myself and we are still very close.
