Yes the smell of desperation is not good. I don't really think you should presume you will live a life of singledom either but be open to accepting what comes along and take it for what it is rather than thinking every person you are attracted to is a potential life partner. I think there is too much emphasis and pressure on going through the processes of what we consider we should be doing to find that person. What suits one will not suit another, do what feels comfortable to you. And if potential partners find you doing what you love to do rather than sitting on edge at the other side of a dinner table, you may seem more appealing.
Ditto, I don't even watch it anymore, the news is a bigger soap opera than the soap operas, the dramas are more like watching stage plays and the reruns, I think I know most of them word for word now.
I think with all the resources we have now, we think we should be able to find it but in reality, finding someone using this medium often leads to long distance relationships that can probably never last without real devotion. I think it is fun in the short term but then the realisation hits that someone is going to have to uproot their lives to accommodate the other. When a lot of people are single parents, the thought of packing up and uprooting from everything your kids have ever known, your work & often other family it is a damn scary thought, especially if you have spent limited time with that person. I think sometimes we are better off to get out locally, go out on some blind dates with friends of friends who are single and lead an active social life to increase the chances of meeting someone closer.
