RE: How's Easter treating u ?

Happy Easter to everyone, even the grumpy ones. . . . bunny easter basket easter egg

RE: Should the United States Marine Corp recruit at high schools during peace time?

Semper Fi .

RE: Lies They Told Us

Just about everything that was taught in history class was in some way slanted to fit the ideology at the time. The events depicted did happen, however, the details were not quite as depicted. If you look at anything in history past or present you will find two constants " money " and " power ".

RE: Protest

Wel, at least I didn't get shot! . . . . angel

RE: Posting

Ali, just sit back and let the members post what they want. Sort of like a pot lunch, enjoy what comes.

RE: Which race is you're favorite?

My favorite race is probably the Dayton 500.

RE: Discussion

Anything but religion, politics, or conspiracy theories.

RE: Cats have it really, really bad in Vietnam. Warning graphic

Seems like they ran out of dogs and now they have to use cats. I see things have changed since I was there.

RE: I Have No Problem With Wanting To Protect The Dogs

Well, it would seem that there are too many people and not enough dogs. Perhaps it is because dogs do not have a strong gun lobby? Could also be that dogs ( and cats ) are a much better class of people than we are.

RE: Draining the swamp

I keep hearing the expression " drain the swamp ". I think that they want to convey some sort of independent thought or action that will endure them to the American public. The actual truth is that all the marsh and wetlands in the District of Columbia have been drained and filled over a hundred years ago. All that is left is some small patches near the Anacostia River and some shoreline near Wilson bridge. Anyone that wants to " drain the swamp " is going to be disappointed as they are over a hundred years too late.

Even Cabin John and Carterock and all the way up to Great Falls do not have any marsh left.

RE: Democrat Conor Lamb wins election in Pennsylvania

I'm just a little bit curious where all the jobs the " Good Jobs " are? I do remember someone promising to bring back all the good paying jobs that we lost. Perhaps all the illegals leaving will open up the job market. Hmmmmmmm! Let's see, there's picking lettuce or grapes for less than minimum. There's also sewing in sweatshops all day with no overtime or other benefits. You could also look into day laborer where you can work only when they need you. I wonder if this is what he was talking about?

RE: High school

Unfortunately, in today's society, it might be prudent to teach how to avoid being the target of a crazy person gun rage. I'm also just about 100 percent sure you will not see Trump rushing in to save you.

RE: Full In The Blank #1

Wrong! The right answer is " miss Jimmy Kimble ".

RE: Who Would Use This?

Boy! Talk about an offer you can't refuse! ! ! . . . . wow

RE: Antibiotics

Viruses are not complete living things. They need a host to live in as well as to use it'd DNA to reproduce. That is why it mutates so fast and also why certain strains like HIV are so hard to eradicate. Fortunately, most viral strains are recognized and eliminated in human hosts. The yeast and other microbial organisms are a little more evolved so as to take longer. The brooder houses and large corporate farms make more money by adding more and more livestock to the current growth cycle. This promotes the spread of disease much quicker so to prevent this they feed regular doses of antibiotics to the stock. What they become is large breeding grounds for resistant strains. Nice to know that McDonalds and Swift Premium will make more billions on your health ( or lack thereof).

No wonder they got rid of the health care bill. Who wants the Government spending billions on it's people when General Dynamics can use it to make more billions.

RE: What Time Is The Apocalypse?

Where is Harold Clamping when you need him? At least I think that is how he spells his name.

I have been hearing some form of natural and man-made doom all my life. You will excuse me if I don't believe any this time.

PS: Harold Clamping was the religious nut guy who predicted the end of the world by looking into the bible a few years ago. I think he got it wrong, don't you. . . . rolling on the floor laughing . . . .rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Antibiotics

Antibiotics are sometimes referred to as the overworked miracle. All living things even microbial ones evolve to meet any threat. If that threat is a poison or some other chemical it will reap havoc on the general population but there might be one mutation that is resistant. It could be one in ten billion and take decades to appear but it will eventually happen. This gives us some real time in medical situations but the food supply companies and their lobbies have accelerated this out of all proportion.

The modern mass animal production has seen large numbers of chickens, cows, pigs and many more animal food growers cram them into smaller and smaller places. This would be economically catastrophic if certain diseases were to infest the heard. They are fed antibiotics in there feed as it prevents this from happening as well as promotes growth in the livestock. This has the unfortunate effect of accelerating the resistant strains and then it is released to the general food processing industry and eventually you. There have been many attempts over the years to stop this practice but the food lobby is just too strong and entranced to make headway. That is why most of the early common medicines are not effective anymore.

Well, don't think that it is completely hopeless. The giant food conglomerates will make billions to continue there extravagant lifestyle and if you should happen to get sick from this and the current form of cure is not working then without the health care they just ended you and the disease will both die out and it will be a momentary end of the problem.

RE: There are 2 reasons why you would join CS .

I do not know about crazy or desperate but if you threatened me I would agree. I actually joined for two reasons, the first was that it was free. The second reason was, well it was free to do so.

RE: What Shape Is The Earth?

The question is " what shape is the Earth ", well the only answer with having our species here for the last several millennia is " bad ".

RE: Let ur hair down

Let your hair down or keep it up . I really do not care as I'm just glad that at my age I still have some ! ! ! . . . laugh

RE: Knife makers and blacksmiths.

Sorry for the long delay in replying as we live about one half a world away . Anyway back to subject at hand . Old files are just about the right temper and hardness for most applications . They are a bit brittle but with some care in use they won't be much of a problem .

Manhattan supply is one of the largest industrial supply companies and DHL and Fed X fly all around the world making deliveries . Just don't order it overnight and it might be affordable . Even if you do not use there hardening stock it might be interesting to at least see what the have . I have used there bar and rod for a large number of applications . It's a great material for special projects and it can be heat treated for just about any application . It will Rockewell as high as the low 60's and anneal to the 40's and 50's . It also has all the information on hardening and anealing on the package . It also comes dimentionaly stable and very accurate , and in it's annealed state easy to machine .

RE: Knife makers and blacksmiths.

Spark testing is to see how much carbon is in the steel . Lots of sparks and it has high carbon ( very hard but brittle ) few or sparse sparks indicates low carbon ( more maluable but softer ) . You also can tell by the color of the spark what the allows or lack of are in it . Bright yellow is carbon . Bright white is titanium . I can't remember what cobalt or manganeses are . You can order water, oil, or air hardening stock from any major industerial supplier .

You might try Manhattan Supply . They should be on the net and they will list all the stock they carry . It does take precise equiptment to reach the right tempature for the right amount of time but if you can find a treatment place and it is not too expensive they can do it for you . They also can anneal it precisely to your spec . All temp. info . is on the packaging along with the tempering to the desired hardness . It's very good steel and I don't think you will be disapointed .

RE: Knife makers and blacksmiths.

My father would make knives out of old files and brick trowels . He would grind them to rough shape and then finish and polish them . He did not use a forge or heat treat any of them but I did get him some Starret oil hardening stock . He liked it as it was ground flat and I could get almost any size he wanted . After he ground them ( the stock comes anealed hence easy to machine ) I would take it and put it in the furnace to harden it . I could also draw it back to any temper wanted . We also had a Rockwell tester so I could presicely tell exactly what it's properties where. I guess being an engineer helped in that matter .

RE: Jesus: red or blue?

Molly, I think that you are right . They killed Gandi and Martin Luther King for being who they where . J F K and his brother Robert was also murdered by the extreme right wing for wanting to change the old way of doing things . I suspect that if Jesus where to come here now they would have to do away with him . First a smear campaign of lies to discredit him and then some self styled mental midget with the God given second amendment right to end his life . That is if they didn't jail him on a framed-up charge . . . . devil

RE: Your opinion here/ Make CS grrrrrreat ;)

Make CS great ! ! 1 OK, first we build a wall so only like opinions are allowed in . Next we take all the revenue from the net and ads and give it to the wealthiest among us . We exclude all members we don't like as being subversives . We next blame all those that do not or did not agree with us as fake and blame the current problems on them .

Well that is what the current administration is doing to make America great again .

RE: Shriner's TV ads......St Jude TV ads- a disgrace....MEDICAL CARE SHOULD BE FREE....

Are you kidding ? ? ? ? We just had the upper 1% kill universal health coverage now you want them to pay for it . This is America, bought and paid for by those that run it now . So get in line and pay your dues when the come for them .

RE: U have to take chances to grow as a person !

Oh Jesus ! I've had seventy years of growth, I just want to regress back to doing nothing but having fun . I can get away with it now as I just blame it on senility ! . . . . . banana . . . head banger . . . devil

RE: Armed teachers

O yes ! That's all we need . Going to school with teachers packing firearms. I'm not sure if this is making America great again or not ? What comes next, a daily TSA style line up and weapons inspection .

Jesus, just like all those third world hot spots you don't know if your children will come home from school or not . Let's all hear it for the NRA .

RE: I miss President Obama speaking! Do you? (This is an A-Political Poll)

Well once again you have somehow heard things that where not said in the forum. I never said that the current President was " dumb " so I can only deduct that you probably think this in your subconcience . I also wonder if you are one of those Russians that post all day on social media for the sole purpose of spreading misinformation . You seem like this is the case . If you are not then perhaps you should ask them for a job .

PS: I understand he filed for bankruptsy four or perhaps five times . This does not sound like very well balanced business intelligence .

RE: I miss President Obama speaking! Do you? (This is an A-Political Poll)

How refreshing for a world leader to speak in full sentences . The previous one could not even talk even in simple terms. Our present one gives simplistic answers to complex questions and berates all those that disagree. Would be so nice to have intelegent leadership again .
