University education is officially free in Ireland for EU citizens. There are registration fees etc though.

Courses with work placement/practical experience can be the most beneficial.

It makes sense to look before you leap generally.

However, I would look more at the interaction and relationship between the siblings and/or parents, than the position within the family.

Mine is not an official quantitative or qualitative study though

Once all of the above is in order, ahem, I would like my 2nd date to be a nice dinner with wine, followed by a few drinks in a bar where you can sit down, and music is not so loud as to nake it difficult to chat.
