Worked in health care overseas, and saw my share of other lands. Some had their charm, but in the majority, life was hard, and many governments were largely unresponsive to the needs of most of the people, or worse, ---far worse. Went to university in Germany and in Mexico, so saw other sides of things as well. China and eastern Europe too. Love to travel, sometimes for extended stays. But love coming home, every time. Wish more folks here could get it. Tata.
All. If SZ people is short for schizophrenic people, I think you could use some PC education. More acceptable. VERY more, would be to refer to these folks as persons diagnosed with schizophrenia. Although given the diagnostic and treatment capabilities of Western psychology and psychiatry, being so labeled often misses the point. As one of the premier virtue signalling, justice warrior, PC monitors here on our wonderful CS, just thought I'd let you and others know. Committee work---to preserve public foot/boat/fishing/birding access to our ocean shores, for the Med. Assoc.,public health and legislative advisory groups, clinician of the day in the legislature, running AA groups in corrections facilities, giving away the settlement from the Church to charity, Making medication detail salespersons leave amle samples for indigents, school volunteer work, starting a pilot project for low cost housing where young couples can own their places---as opposed to the failed public/low cost housing, support for softer conservative politics, keeping the suicide grim reaper at a wide distance, drinking alcohol in a non acloholic fashion, conquering the anger (mostly), knowing, with humility, that I'm still merely getting started. Lot's more. And finally, ehrlich waehrt am laengsten. Aa.
When I once worked in the Casualty Dept., we used to have a scale for patients, rating them on personal characteristics that would clue us into which ones would be intoxicated, personality disordered and smokers, and as such, requiring extra tact to manage. Having lots of body "art" , especially the crude home done sorts, as in "LOVE" across the knuckles, was at the top of the list.

Thanks, all. Well, looking at this philosophically, she made it to mid 90's, And she's able to be in her home and with family. And although our Dad left us almost a decade ago, his passing was what many of us might wish for. Sitting in his favorite Archie Bunker chair in front of the (volume too high) TV. Reading the local daily liberal fish wrap, every printed word. During which, dozing off frequently, paper falling back to cover his face. Same scene thousands of times, so no panic on others in the house. Until, that is, the time he didn't wake up. Makes me think of other passings. 18 year old alone and in pain on the fields at Gettysburg, or Omaha beach. Or the little black girl in painful sickle cell crisis. Yep, lots of ways to go.
4 hour MC trip to Massachusetts yesterday to work with Sibs on mom's final days. 95+ degree heat. Mid 90's, she, and multiple organ demise. Home hospice nurses were wonderful. She above all wants to avoid last days in a hospital or other institution, preferring passing at her home, with family and familiar surroundings.Nice doc to doc chat, and he agrees with home death, no heroic resussitive measures, and only palliative care. Still alert and enjoying the world. The great Mandela.
