The Dalai Lama
That is, unless you keep your pride internal.
I just meant the way it's generally used like, i'm proud of my son. Far be it from me to say anything against the Dalai Lama, i'm sure he's a great guy, i don't know him, this was just meant to be a non political thread for a change, the question originated from another dating site on ways of breaking the ice.

I understand what you're saying, but sometimes it's good to examine our intentions when we speak of pride. For instance you could say, I'm pleased with the way my son has turned out. Pride can have a tone of one upmanship about it. I know we don't think about it in that way, but if you examine it closely, you may see pride is not always such a good thing.

I'm sorry bodeling but that smacks of semantics tinged with political correctness, we are having a debate on a dating site, not philosophy.

I agree with you on that, pride can be an ugly thing....and can burn bridges and leave people out in the cold for no reason other than pride/ego.. Witnessed this first hand growing up and something that still bothers me when I see two people who should be in each others lives but are not due to pride.
