RE: WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO NOW PART 3

'Lovely Days' CD by Bill Withers - 1989 and still one of my all time favourites.

Can't put the YouTube clip on for some reason it won't let me on - keeps giving me some stupid message about linking up with my GMail account? very mad frustrated

Don't know if it has been done yet in London but I know from past experiences that the working population of Sydney were 'asked' to take their annual leave when the Olympics were on!! To free up the public transport for visitors?mumbling very mad sigh

What a cheek? I can see the same thing happening in London?

Oh and just heard that Paul McCartney will be a big part of the opening ceremony? confused

Nothing against Sir Paul but geez the UK is awash with fantastic talent - is that the best they can do?? blues

RE: If you are working, what is it that you do?

I agree, if only someone could come up with a study that said large amounts of chocolate and white wine was the best thing for your health ...... I would be feeling like a 20 yo!! cheering applause rolling on the floor laughing

I have a friend who was taken by cancer before she was 60 yo - her husband was an alcoholic for 20 yrs. Been in and out of hospitals, rehab so many times, 5 yrs ago he went into a nursing home, they said he would last maybe 6 mths ......... dunno

RE: SHould i contact my ex

London Olympics

My kids were in primary school when the Olympics were on in Sydney in 2000, ALL schools in the area were given either free or hugely discounted tickets to the Paralympics.

We went as a group from the school and a few of the venues were close together so we had a 'Day pass' ticket - it was just great. The kids loved it and it was just a totally different atmosphere, so uplifting and I remember a whole stadium of kids spontaneously singing the Australian National Anthem when someone won a gold medal. I was choked up.

Enjoy!!. thumbs up cool

RE: WHAT ARE YOU HAVING FOR DINNER TONIGHT?

It's Friday night, not going out but after I have done the 'mums taxi' and picked up my daughter from her part time job, dropped her off at the footy I am having steak and salad and a drop of the finest Sav Blanc drinking wine beer

Have a great weekend everyone. teddybear

RE: Interview the person below

No, not as much as I would like, probably because I have had 3 different CD players in my house at one time and not ONE of them was working. Grrrr frustrated frustrated frustrated

Do you have a record player and LP's in your possession?? (I have - buy them in garage sales and markets for peanuts)

London Olympics

Just wondered if anybody has bought tickets for the Olympics next year??

Is London ready for them? Looks like some of the stadiums are fantastic? applause applause applause

Is London/UK getting excited about the prospect of tens of thousands extra visitors in an already busy city?? confused

Just wondered as I remember the Olympics in 2000 in Sydney.

RE: Are there any Quo fans on here?

Never been a big fan of their music but I did go to see them live. My boyfriend at the time, who became my husband, bought us tickets to see their show in Sydney, Oz about 1988 I think?

I kinda went "Status Quo?? - errrm not sure if I like their music, not sure if I want to go?" went anyway and was blown away. Great show. But didn't convert me to their music, I am more of a soul/mowtown old chick. cheering

RE: If you are working, what is it that you do?

Good for you Wow, going out on your own. Glad it worked out. I trained as a secretary many years ago blushing and its like riding a bike - you never forget. I swore I would not get lazy with spelling/grammar but now - what the heck? Forums are not like your boss checking your typing? uh oh

I work in AGed Care in the Community, visit the oldies in their homes, do some light cleaning, ironing, etc. take them to chemists, drs appts and shopping if they can't get there themselves for one reason or another. I meet sooooo many lovely and interesting people. Lots of cups of tea and biscuits. thumbs up

The down side is I can see how things will go for me down the track doh but that is no surprise is it, they haven't found a cure for ageing? dancing

RE: Interview the person below

Yes, I am very happy here - this is my home. I moved here 25 yrs ago, my kids born here and I love in a very beautiful part of Oz. I am very lucky and remind myself of that most days.

Have you been thru the Channel Tunnel?

RE: The new Layout on Forums

Hi Warrior, think everyone must be still in bed 'up' there??

No fear of me becoming a creature of habit, I have always done out of the ordinary things, never been one to just go along with the crowd. yay

RE: Interview the person below

Went to see the Trip a few days ago (Brit movie?) some funny, witty dialogue, but not the jaw aching comedy as in Bridesmaids - great feel good movie.

Have you ever had too much to drink at the office/works Xmas do??

RE: The new Layout on Forums

Not sure about it yet, finding it a bit dark and colourful. Maybe it will take me a while to adapt to change, I am becoming a creature of habit!wave

RE: TWO WORDS....KEEP ONE THE SAME

My life thumbs up

RE: RE: Ye Thought or Rant of the Day!!!

Thank you Yash124G - a touch of sanity in this thread.

Everybody, take a big, deep breath and calm down!! It is very easy to mis-interpret a post on any forum as we don't have the benefit of mannerisms, facial expressions, etc.??

Lets all agree that this weekend internationally has been a very sad day and not add to it?? teddybear

Yes, a big group hug is in order hug kiss

RE: How long have you been a member .. of singlesconnect.uk

RE: Condolonces to the people of Oslo.

Sadly these random acts of madness, craziness, evil - not sure exactly how to describe it - have happened and will happen as long as man can easily get their hands on whatever it takes to make a bomb, or a fast action gun??

A coward, ugly, selfish coward to do this to innocent people.

The pain the families of the deceased will be immeasurable but a thought goes out to those who survived this horrible act, I am sure it will be something they will never forget.

Hug your loved ones tonight. hug teddybear

RE: Goodbye To Amy Winehouse

The world has lost another wonderful talent too soon. If only she realised how much she and her music meant to so many people? I can't begin to imagine how an addiction could be so strong that it would destroy someone.

Yes, may she find peace at last. rose rose rose

RE: dating after 35

FWB not for me-just the way I am. Sounds too cold, detached.

Think if you meet the right person you will move heaven and earth to be with them??

heart wings

I'm outta here

I'm not usually a good sleeper but I slept like a log last night.

Was having one of those weird dreams, I was in England, my sister was cooking bacon and eggs for mum in a filthy kitchen and she was having a glass of wine with it?? rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

It was so clear.

Have a beaut Friday.... teddybear

Fate ??

Do you ever wonder why you made a decision and think about it and think that it must have been meant to be for a reason??

As an example, 25 yrs ago I was working in Plymouth, England and was bored, summer was shocking and decided I would take off to USA/Canada to do some touring and look up relatives that I haver been in touch with and never met from my dad's side of the family. (Big Irish family!!)

So in the days before the internet/emails I wrote to a friend who was working in France and asked her what she was doing in the winter. Before I got a reply my sister rang me from Greece, she had met an Aussie lady there and asked me what I was in the off season and did I fancy going to Australia for the winter. And here I am?yay elephant joy

I have a great life here in spite of my divorce, but occasionally I dream and wonder what my life would have been like if I had not come to Oz??dunno

But then I think, it must have been FATE - it was meant to be??angel2
