So I take it this is an example of how open minded you are?
I’m allowed to believe what I want but not to express it? “and as long as it doesn't enter the public arena, you are free to do so”
“Try to institute laws based on your beliefs (or lack thereof) and you will experience my dissent.”
Sorry to disappoint you but I am not in a position to be making any laws. As far experiencing your dissent goes I can’t really get all that worried you having read your profile. Not to worry though; you’re impressed enough with yourself for both of us.
“Until then, get bent”
I think you should ask the charm school for a refund. You got ripped off bub.
Think of the way many with Down’s syndrome are viewed. People with a mental illness or dementia. Any population that so-called normal people would say, “I’d rather be dead than live like that!”
Even something as simple as appeance, speach problems, incontinence or a weight problem can make a person seem less than human to some.
Distress and pity sound like they are more about the giver than the receiver.
Compassion to me is more about empathy put into action.
I do the best I can but I am for from perfect.
There are a great many people out there that need some compassion that are viewed as less than human by many people. “Untouchable” is not limited to one culture and not a thing of the past.
You will not accept any sort of proof. NOTHING is good enough for you.
You have also set yourself up as the Supreme Being, the final authority on everything. Undoubtedly you also think we are supposed to share in that delusion.
Sorry, but your Mom forgot to tell me you were the center of the universe. Maybe you and DarkSide can have a little chinwag about how awful I am for not bowing at the feet of such wonderful lads as yourselves.
Tell you what; you believe what you want to and I will believe what I want to.
Fair enough, or is that a violation of some unwritten law?
You paint with a very broad brush. Try painting window frames with a ten inch brush and then let me know what sort of over all accuracy you get with that broad brush.
So any faith based group that wants to feed people, help folks set up their own schools or businesses in third world countries or speaks out in favor of human rights can just go chase themselves while the secular and business sector do the same work even though the needs are still not met?
Check this contrast of two well known organizations.
I can’t help but notice that both the believers and non-believers have nothing more than their own opinions, observations and feelings to offer.
The difference is while most of the believers seem to be saying, “This is what I believe and it is good enough for me,” many of the non-believers seem to be saying, “This is what I believe and it is good enough for YOU.”
I looked at a few sections that the Disability Rights/ Anti-euthanasia group Not Dead Yet and similar organizations found objectionable. These people are anything but the “right wing nut jobs” the true believers claim are the only one who oppose the OBAMA PLAN.
I was warned as a child in the early 1970s that profit driven health care rationing was the wave of the future. This seems to be a major move in that direction if you look at it from the vantage point of NDY members and others who would be negatively affected by the proposed plan.
Problem is most people don’t give a damn. They are told THEY will save money on health care and they don’t bother to figure out how it will be paid for and implemented. They want to believe it, so they do believe it.
Medibiz is a huge problem. Their donations/lobbying to Congress are a part of that problem. Does anyone really think their pals in D.C. are going to turn their backs on them now?
I’m surprised the true believers have not been on here yet spewing raw hatred for anyone doubting the great one.
I've always been a dog person. I was with a dog person for ten years and our only children had tails.
I've sent people packing because they thought they were more important than those furry children. One started to get uppity about it and I told him in a calm, cold and clear voice; "This is that dog's home, he has a right to be here, you don't. You decide what happens in your home, I decide what happens in mine, GOT IT?"
Strangely enough he decided there was something he had to do at home and left in a hurry. Hasn't been back since.
ny guesses how long until Fairpoint goes belly up?
Im guessing they will be gone mid Sept.
It is still a wonder to me the the PSB allowed them to buy Verizon's land lines. Small children knew they did not have the assets so why are we stuck with them now?
How do you manage to put up with all of the mere mortals in the world your grace?
You might want to pull this from your profile so no poor schulb will get the idea he has a right to hold an opinion that is not identical to your "one truth".
"I think we just have to be looking for the positive qualities we can accept and live with, and hope that a mutual respect will take care of the rest."
Before I realized the poster I was responding to was just a troll trying to stir some excrement I thought maybe his paranoia (perhaps born of past trama) was making him see gun crazed boogymen in every shadow.
My apologies for associating the illness of you and other good people with his revolting behavior.
There are plenty of people that will pretend to know the answer for all of us in order to create the illusion they are something special.
I’m here to help give them the chance to look like even bigger buffoons.
That and to open the door for the dog. If he figure that one out it will only be a few weeks more until he knows how to change the locks and I’ll need to find new digs.
We’ve all got our own missions, opinions and experiences. So, we all have our own answers.
Every brand has problems at some point. Some are more problematic that others.
I see a great many problems with Gateways, Acers and Sonys. I would not take any of them for free let alone pay for them.
The low end Dells are not much better. Enough so though I would buy one were the price right. Most HPs are good machines. Lenovos were very good when I last handled one though that was a few years ago. They are the laptop formerly known as IBM.
In Dell’s favor if you want to run XP is their “Roll up” program where the machine comes with XP installed and the ability to “upgrade” to Vista when you are ready. Don’t count on being able to install XP yourself on a new computer. Drivers may not exist for some of your devices in XP.
Research the model you are thinking of buying on Google. Type in the brand and model along with the word PROBLEM. You’ll begin to see a pattern after a while.
No matter what you buy get a good anti-virus. Forget Mcafee it is often worse than no anti-virus. Norton is OK as an AV but the engine it is built on is prone to runaway processes and even without it is a resource hog. I recommend AVAST! Or Avira to my clients. Also run a good anti-spyware or two. Spy-bot is very good. But don’t bother with the tea timer. For a second I would recommend Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.
Defragment every week using Auslogic or another aftermarket program. They are much faster and more efficient than the defragmenter that ships with Windows. I’ve seen plenty of damage done to Windows installations by fragmentation. If windows claims the disk does not need to be defragged flip it the bird and do it anyway.
Use at very least a software firewall Zone Alarm is good and easy to use. Kerio is better but a bit more tricky to configure if you are not used to it.
If someone tells you “My friend is a super geek and they say to do this…” hit them with a shovel.
1. Reasonably healthy 2. Reasonably sane 3. Reasonably ambitious 4. Works and plays well with others 5. Willing to overlook I fail badly on the above four items
This place does sort of make me think of the bad old days of college.
Pretty much the same personalities around too. Some pretty good, some that make you want to pitch them out of a high window to hopefully land in front of a sppeding garbage truck.
I didn’t like that BS back then and I’m not all that impressed seeing it from people in their 30s, 40s and beyond.
Undoubtedly some of the frat boys will decide to show me what big men they are now. Tell you what guys. You fill up the water balloons but you might want to think about it before you start throwing them at your computer.
RE: Existence of God v Science
My but you are an excitable fellow!Do you have such impressive tantrums and call people names in the real world too?
I have to work tomorrow so I need to sleep. Feel free to post another nastygram and show all the kids what a big deal you are.
