RE: Gallbladder Removal Surgery and Aftercare

Hi Bo,hope you are feeling better.Took this off an N.H.S. site so hope it helps.

Most people can continue to eat a healthy well-balanced diet after they have their gallbladder removed. However, if you get side effects, such as mild diarrhoea, it may help if you:

•eat more high fibre foods
•avoid any foods that make your diarrhoea worse
What does the gallbladder do?
The gallbladder is a pouch underneath your liver. It stores bile, a fluid made by the liver that helps to break down fatty foods. When you eat food, the gallbladder releases bile into your duodenum (the top part of your small intestine).

If you’ve had your gallbladder removed, your liver will continue to produce enough bile to digest your food. Instead of being stored in the gallbladder, the bile drips continuously from your liver into your intestine.

Before your operation
You may be advised to eat a low-fat diet for several weeks before your gallbladder is removed (cholecystectomy).

After your operation
You can eat normally soon after your operation. Most people can start eating later the same day. You will probably prefer to eat small meals to start with.

You don't need to continue to eat a low-fat diet. A healthy well-balanced diet is important, so your diet can include some fats. However, if your diet includes too much fat, you may put on weight.

The Live Well section has more information about a healthy diet.

Side effects
For the first few weeks, after meals some people may:

•get increased wind (gas)
•have indigestion
•feel bloated
Some people also find that:

•they pass stools (faeces) more often
•their stools are less solid
About 20 in every 100 people have diarrhoea after gallbladder surgery. Diarrhoea usually improves over time, but for a small number of people it can last for many years.

If your stools are more frequent or loose than usual or if you have diarrhoea, it may help to:

•increase the high fibre foods in your diet, such as brown rice and wholemeal bread, to make your stools more firm
•avoid foods that may make your diarrhoea worse, such as dairy products, spicy foods and fatty foods
•avoid drinks containing caffeine, such as tea and coffee, that can make diarrhoea worse
You may also want to get advice from your GP, who can recommend medication if you have diarrhoea.

Complications
Complications after gallbladder surgery are rare. See our Health A-Z for information about complications after gallbladder removal.

If you have had other organs removed as well as your gallbladder, such as your pancreas, you may have problems digesting your food. Your healthcare professional will give you advice about your diet after your surgery.

Take care.
hug

RE: The Long Goodbye: The Never-Ending Virtual Romantic Relationship

Didn't say undatable, but his credibility rating must be in doubt as he's coming across as a control freak ,and a person not to be trusted if he can talk so glibly about his past relationship.Just think it's all very sad. hug

P.S. Hope life is on the up for you lovely lady.heart wings

RE: riots in London

Everyone has access to education in this country,it's whether they bother to turn up is the problem. You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot force it to drink. Just because they have no education, in your opinion, does NOT justify going on the rampage and destroying people's homes and businesses .

As for your comments about our police force, talk about give a dog a bad name. Tell me any country in the world today that hasn't got corruption in it's rank and file.

I would also add, tell me a country that isn't making cuts affecting it's people. We are not alone,so stop putting the boot in.

RE: The Long Goodbye: The Never-Ending Virtual Romantic Relationship

Hi Chris, sadly no-one wins. It's absolutely pointless and solves nothing, except to cause pain to the other party.Maybe that is the intention. Doesn't do much for his credibility as a potential partner on a singles site.j.m.o.wave

RE: riots in London

Hi again Wow, I read this with interest and yes I have to say that what has been said is right on the button.

I still maintain that a lack of parental control is the key issue .

Just imagine if all the O.A.P.'s went on the rampage, because they too are living on a poverty line in some cases, and again many of their privileges are being removed via closure of Day Centres etc, etc.

sigh

RE: The Long Goodbye: The Never-Ending Virtual Romantic Relationship

Hi Nanners,Ain't that the truth. It's called letting go gracefully. It's beginning to turn in to a saga of woe,and dragging all and sundry into the affray.

Has it solved anything for the thread author.dunno Obviously not as this is one of many disecting threads.Let it be.handshake

RE: Wanted!!London Calling......Where Are The Huns??

And if you think that what is happening is at all funny, then I feel sorry for you.

Your posts say everything about you.No need to explain yourself.very mad

RE: Can we have one day we don't put other people (countries) down and say some good things about the re

Well I personally agree with your comments.handshake

If people were nicer to each other, at least on the Forums, and stopped bashing each other, this would be a great place to actually debate constructively.

As for the poster who feels the need to remind us of the horrors that are taking place in the World,we are aware and can sympathise. Don't need reminding thank you.

Have a nice day all.wave

RE: riots in London

Jeez Gra, what a sorry state of affairs for our country. Never thought I'd see the day that anarchy ruled. Makes me sick to my stomach.

Take care.hug

RE: riots in London

It's a sorry state of affairs, whoever is to blame, though as a parent I have to agree with Wow that the parental control is no longer there for some of these youths,or in some cases the teenagers are in control at home too.

I guess a new T.V, IPad or whatever they have got their grubby little hands on will be accepted by some parents.doh

The harsh reality is that next year London will be on display to the whole of the world when it hosts the Olympic Games,it didn't need this disgusting display at this time ,when so much has been done to promote our country.

Shame on some people.very mad

RE: listen to me very carefully....I will only say this once.

The forums will be a sadder place without you Carenza.

Thank you for those lovely words, they really mean a lot to me.

RE: What's It Like To Be A Navy SEAL

Considering the size of your country, that's hardly surprising.grin

S.A.S. rules, bearing in mind that they have the distinction of being the model on which all national commando units are based today.handshake

By the way the S.A.S and the Navy Seals work together on certain projects, so you see it really is all about team work.

RE: What was one of the hardest things you've ever had to do or decisions you've ever had to make?

Message for Ccincy.

Thank you for one of the most thought provoking and heart rendering threads we have had in a long time.handshake

This has bought many people together to share their pain and sorrow, but in a gentle and compassionate way.

We all have experienced the pain of losing someone, and sometimes it's good to share one's thoughts, even with relative strangers, although I feel that there are no strangers on C.S. only friends we've yet to meet.hug

RE: What was one of the hardest things you've ever had to do or decisions you've ever had to make?

Do you know Happy I didn't look upon it as a curse that he passed on my Birthday, more of a present to me, that I would not have to see him suffer[ He had lung and brain cancer] any longer.

I also knew that he was going to be reunited with his wife, who had pased 6 months previously, and their son.

Thank you for sharing.

Life moves in mysterious ways at times.bouquet

RE: What was one of the hardest things you've ever had to do or decisions you've ever had to make?

I feel for you as I did the same, but on my Birthday.I willed him to stay, then realised it was better for him to be free of pain,as my own would slowly ease over time.hug

RE: What was one of the hardest things you've ever had to do or decisions you've ever had to make?

Having to tell my parents that their son of 35 had died in Sri Lanka.

He was on holiday with his wife and dropped dead in the Indian Ocean early in the morning. Due to communication difficulties ,my sister-in-law was unable to phone the U.K. and everything had to be done through Columbo.

One of the worst days of my life when I took that call.crying

RE: What's It Like To Be A Navy SEAL

I personally think that we all need each other in some way, shape or form. No one person is better than another when it comes to team work.

These task forces do a magnificent job when required to ,and I'm damned glad we had the S.A.S during the war. We should all be proud of our fighting forces who serve and protect us ,at the risk of their own lives. handshake

RE: Teenagers, are they worth it?

Yes I and she survived.

My daughter was so difficult, fought me all the way,but never once through all the traumas did I feel like giving up,even though I was on my own.

As for being proud, that started at birth, faltered a lot during the teens, but she never brought trouble to my door.

Now she is an adult with her own successful business,a wonderful husband, and is secure in life. Who does she thank, her Mum.Now that's what makes it all worth while.

hug

RE: What's It Like To Be A Navy SEAL

Hi outdoorgirl, so the Brits came out on top.

The one I posted was to show just how far back in history these elite fighting forces went. There was no special equipment or super training in those days but they were still forces to be reckoned with.

Thanks for the latest data.handshake

RE: What's It Like To Be A Navy SEAL

Absolutely Ccincy. Our own S.A.S team was formed in the 40's during World War Two.

There was also another team of Royal Marines called the Cockleshell Heroes who went 100 miles behind enemy lines to destroy the German naval force during the war.Only 2 survived to tell the tale.

Such courage of any team deserves to be recognised, but sadly is forgotten.sigh

RE: What's It Like To Be A Navy SEAL
