My own response to your thread is that when we are younger,starry eyed whatever ,we tend not to let the small annoying habits of others bother us to that extent. They are just a minor irritation,and we are usually more tolerant when younger.
As we age we realise that these habits will eventually manifest to the point of sheer frustration,causing rifts between the couple.
Better to recognise these signs early in a developement and deal with them,and ,as you say, save the inevitable break-up.
