I don't consider that she is being "kept" if she is married to the guy,as most husbands like to be the provider, although in her case she sounds high maintainance.
Gosh I don't believe it.So you think that what Englishelegance wrote was written by a smug, narrow minded bigot.
She tells you how her Father struggled to take care of his family, and you come back with those comments.Did you not read what she wrote.
As I have said before we all have a choice in life, which has absolutely nothing to do with one's circumstances. You can sit back and expect to be provided for,or you can get off your backside and do something about it. Simples.
Just been chatting to my daughter who has done rather well for herself, and she was just saying that she is glad of her upbringing with a working single parent as it taught her values that have made her the person she is today.
It's all about standards and as Gardenhackle stated keeping one's dignity.
I worked two or three jobs to make ends meet when I reared my daughter single handed. We all helped each other out in my day as there were not the services available for child care that there are today, and basically the ones that are can only be afforded by 2 parents working in well paid jobs.
We used to have Council run nurseries, but along with most things ,like home helps, meals on wheels, day centres, there have ben so many cuts they no longer exist.
Well having read many of your comments to the females on CS. I've know doubt you could, but as I am well into retirement and of a pensionable age I doubt I would be of much use.
It's a known fact that in today's society having kids to some folk means" I get a house,am fed and clothed and don't have to work for it"
We all have choices in life never mind chances!!!!!!!!!!!!! So people CAN choose to be sensible if they so desire and not have children they cannot support.
As for the referral to "alcohol" that in it's own way is probably responsible for many of the unwanted children in society today.
Alcoholism is a disease, getting pregnant isn't,though it looks like it's turning out that way.
If they don't want to be on Welfare then why keep having babies at the Goverment's expense. This is not just related to the States,it's a problem everywhere. If you cannot provide for 1 child, how can you possibly quantify having more.
Some people have a problem with their own self worth and have to learn to love themselves before they can feel empathy for others.Does this then make them egotistical?
We are all different in our approach to others, and I am of the opinion that rightly or wrongly this is just another "label" that we use to stick on folk, especially if we do not like them or their personna.j.m.o.
Well I did know that my head would be on the chopping block for daring to speak out in a masculine environment!
When you know me personally, then, and only then, can you accuse me of being"ignorant"
I don't ignore anything in the real world, been around too long for that I'm afraid. Your condemnation for the world in general speaks volumes quite frankly. A graphic description to say the least!
The world in general is an ugly place to live in and getting uglier by the minute, whether man made or by natural disasters. Personally I wouldn't call any earthquake minor , and I'm pretty sure the buildings in New Zealand didn't collapse through bad construction, but people still died.j.m.o.
Unfortunately yes it is possible, but our gun laws have been tightened up considerably. We also have had several "gang shootings" and innocents have been killed or wounded.
I am not anti American, just think " tradition " and "rights" are being abused.
Call me a pacifist, old fashioned, whatever, but there doesn't seem to be much value placed on human life these days, and I personally find that quite sad.
I thought I was being a kind child and gave my Rupert bear to some deprived children living up the street from me. Passing the house one day in the garden was my Rupert with his limbs hanging off and thrown in the dirt.
I have never forgotten that scene to this day
My daughter who is 44 this year has a "treasure box" made by her Grandfather, and she keeps all her past memories in there including Wow Wow a small toy dog she had on her 1st. birthday.
I've been on and off the site for years, met some great people, watched a lot of great people leave, get hitched , or even unfortunately die.
I like to pop in and out and meet up with other likewise people and catch up with the rest of the world.
It's the best site to come on and just chill, though some just turn to ice!!!!!!!! The likes of yourself,Amity,Time4,both the venus girls and countless others have given me some good laughs, and I hope I have done the same for others.
RE: I am getting married!
As I said to Jac, you may have to sign a pre nup!!!!!!!!!!!
