Exactly where I am now. I made use of my retirement by a 7 year adventure to Spain, but am delighted to be back in the UK in my own home, surrounded by beautiful countryside, and in the company of family and friends.
I got plenty of nothing, and nothing's plenty for me.
I remember you mentioning this in another thread some time ago. I trust my instincts as best I can,but like you it makes you wonder about people, which I find rather sad really.
They tried it on with someone else much later, making life uncomfortable and saying that they were changing the wages system and she wouldn't be able to cope. Turns out that their equipment wouldn't take the new programme, and they asked her to stay.
Needless to say she walked after many years with the Company ,has a much better part time job and is a lot happier.
I personally love the internet and the services that it can provide. On line shopping and delivery was a great bonus for me after major surgery, just one of the many services on offer for people in general.
I also am able to watch T.V. from my laptop in bed which again has been so useful. So many things available for people needing to do research but unable to get out.
Of course on the other hand we have the downside. As with any product it gets abused ,but for me personally it's been a godsend.
The sad part unfortunately is that it's taken away the personal touch.People have forgotten the art of letter writing these days.
All the photos on my profile are at most only 3 years old.I don't have many taken these days, mostly family etc.
I personally think it's about how you feel in yourself.Negativity is not on my agenda,I'm happy and content with my life and accept and embrace old age.We can't stop the process so why not make the most of it.
