RE: Royal wedding in UK

Just collected the cocoa in passing .

All I have read about throughout this thread from the author is the cost to my country of two people getting married on Friday ,and that the monarchy should be abolished.

This is my country and I get sick and tired of opinionated people telling us what is or is not good for us.

Why get so het up over something that is not their concern, and be happy for a couple who obviously love each other very much.

handshake

RE: Royal wedding in UK

Still none of your business how our country is run and by whom. Put your own country in order before you start tearing down the British Monarchy.professor

RE: Royal wedding in UK

Actually way off target as usual. I wouldn't dream of telling people from another country what they should do,so why do you presume to come on here and denegrate our traditions. Shame on you.

RE: Royal wedding in UK

Thanks for that rohaan. I fail to understand why people, mostly from other countries, bang on about the expense and " off with their heads" attitude.

This is a country steeped in tradition which will continue for many years to come I've no doubt. Yes it might be a bit out dated but there is nothing more spectacular than a bit of a Royal do.handshake

RE: Royal wedding in UK

Personally speaking this is one of the first" modern" weddings that the Royals have had. Prince William and his bride to be have been together 8 years now and I'm sure if they had their way it would be a private affair.

Being "royal" is not all that it's cracked up to be I'm sure.

To me this day is a celebration of two people's love for each other. The fact that he is a member of the Royal family is another issue. I wish them joy.wine

That's what I mean Amity!rolling on the floor laughing

People moan like mad ,but still can't resist having a peek, especially the female population. I wish Kate luck having to live in the "establishment" but I think for once that love will prevail. I bloody hope so as it's costing enough.

Nice touch to ask for donations to charities instead of pressies though.handshake

RE: Royal wedding in UK

Whatever people think about the wedding, love it or hate it, they'll still watch it ,even if only out of curiosity.

RE: Welfare baby solution: Family Cap.

I don't need a lesson in economics or human rights and most certainly do not read the Sun newspaper. I came in at the beginning of this thread and as usual comments have been taken out of context.

I've been around a long time Jac and seen things happen that are a disgrace ,and shame our nation.

I can only voice my personal opinion. Whether you agree to differ is your personal choice.handshake

RE: Welfare baby solution: Family Cap.

You don't have to know someone of the ilk you have mentioned above, but we all know that they are out there milking the system.

This thread started out as to why certain children were being denied basic welfare, but has, as with most threads ,digressed into the Welfare State in general.

There are certainly those in need of support in many country's across the world, and I have the greatest empathy for them. However there are also those that could help themselves, but prefer to sit back and expect the State to keep them.

In the UK pensioners get a raw deal even though they spent years working and paying into the system to pay for their retirement, but others come along, often from other countries and get everything paid for them.

Paying out £7000 a month in rent to a family with 7 children [ only 3 when they first arrived from Somalia] is in my opinion an insult to others who struggle on a daily basis to keep their heads above water.

This is but one case of many. Rant over.frustrated
