The GAA is never going to be beaten though in the majority of the country. Soccer tends to be a city sport.

Brian Kerr suggested something similar a few years ago. He said it needed to lose it's Dublin centric set up. John Giles tried to make major changes as well years ago but the FAI stopped his plans.

Pity a set-up similar to the Celtic league could not happen. If Northern and the Republic of Ireland, Wales and Scotland had a league between them it could be decent some day. Obviously that can never happen for dozens of reasons (that the 3 best Welsh teams play in England is a pretty good reason why it could not happen)

Still it would be a nice dream!

Ignoring the obvious issue that there are no "best fans in the world" at any club, if there really was a team with the best fans, it sure is not the team whose fans caused English teams to be kicked out of Europe because of the Heysel disaster.

We had traffic light balls in UCD where everybody wore those stickers. Spot a drunk first year with a green sticker and it is party time

Unfortunately my family have had similar issues with the media. TV programmes and lots of articles in the paper were about cousins of mine (they were killed) and they were just awful, trashy pieces.

Irish media are basically all tabloids.
