RE: Should E-Cigarettes be banned in confined public areas ?

I always look to who has the most to lose or gain, and in this instance I suspect the ones who really seem worried are the pharmaceutical companies, as people don't seem to using the patches or chewing gums any more, which were massively expensive anyway, people are more or less going straight to the eciggies, which are way way cheaper.

RE: Should E-Cigarettes be banned in confined public areas ?

I would like your pitchfork army to also tackle the drunks who puked up on the street, could they please come rub their noses in it ......oh ....oh .....and perhaps they could tie down the dog owners and make them eat the dog crap their beasts left on the pavement for all to step in......and then there is the sink of pig slurry on my drive to and from work .....and ....and ....the one at work who eats kippers at their desk and then breathes it all over everyone.... very mad frustrated
or is it just me that finds all the above far more odious than ecigs??
confused

RE: Should E-Cigarettes be banned in confined public areas ?

I suppose i should have declared an interest here, I use ecigs, I have now been off the smokes for 2 years or so, I had tried everything else, even hypnosis, and this is the only thing that has worked. And yes, I do understand that it is just keeping my nicotine addiction going, but better this than the cancer sticks.

RE: Jung's Archetypes - what archetype are you?

INTJs are analytical. Like INTPs, they are most comfortable working alone and tend to be less sociable than other types. Nevertheless, INTJs are prepared to lead if no one else seems up to the task, or if they see a major weakness in the current leadership. They tend to be pragmatic, logical, and creative. They have a low tolerance for spin or rampant emotionalism. They are not generally susceptible to catchphrases and do not recognize authority based on tradition, rank, or title.

Hallmarks of the INTJ include independence of thought and a desire for efficiency. They work best when given autonomy and creative freedom. They harbor an innate desire to express themselves by conceptualizing their own intellectual designs. They have a talent for analyzing and formulating complex theories. INTJs are generally well-suited for occupations within academia, research, consulting, management, science, engineering, and law. They are often acutely aware of their own knowledge and abilities—as well as their limitations and what they don't know (a quality that tends to distinguish them from INTPs). INTJs thus develop a strong confidence in their ability and talents, making them natural leaders.

In forming relationships, INTJs tend to seek out others with similar character traits and ideologies. Agreement on theoretical concepts is an important aspect of their relationships. By nature INTJs can be demanding in their expectations, and approach relationships in a rational manner. As a result, INTJs may not always respond to a spontaneous infatuation but wait for a mate who better fits their set criteria. They tend to be stable, reliable, and dedicated. Harmony in relationships and home life tends to be extremely important to them. They generally withhold strong emotion and do not like to waste time with what they consider irrational social rituals. This may cause non-INTJs to perceive them as distant and reserved; nevertheless, INTJs are usually very loyal partners who are prepared to commit substantial energy and time into a relationship to make it work.

As mates, INTJs want harmony and order in the home and in relationships. The most independent of all types, INTJs trust their intuition when choosing friends and mates—even in spite of contradictory evidence or pressure from others. The emotions of an INTJ are hard to read, and neither male nor female INTJs are apt to express emotional reactions. At times, INTJs seem cold, reserved, and unresponsive, while in fact they are almost hypersensitive to signals of rejection from those they care for. In social situations, INTJs may also be unresponsive and may neglect small rituals designed to put others at ease. For example, INTJs may communicate that idle dialogue such as small talk is a waste of time. This may create the impression that the INTJ is in a hurry—an impression that is not always intended. In their interpersonal relationships, INTJs are usually better in a working situation than in a recreational situation.

RE: Pet LIKES

That moment of silence at the end of the day when I have a cup of tea in hand and can shut out the world for half an hour.

Smiling eyes.

Driving no where in particular on a nice day.

Payday.

RE: Pet Hates!!

People who spend all day texting about their day when the only thing they have been doing all day is texting.

People who have no idea what an indicator is for.

Politicians.....I just can stand their self righteous smug BS.

People who can't seem to understand the word "No." and repeatedly ask you the same question, and then wonder why you annoyed at them, well if you had listened the first ten times, I wouldn't have to get annoyed at you for you to shut the hell up.

RE: Aras Attracta - The Prime Time Sting....

Let us face it, it isn't the first time in Ireland that care homes for the most vulnerable in society have been in the spot light for all the wrong reasons, from the mother and baby homes, through old folks homes and now homes for the intellectually disabled. The only time action seems to be taken is when it hits the main stream media, where were the HSE, HIQA and the ombudsman and The Minister for Health all along, and what is the point of all these agencies when such abuses are on going in care homes, abuses they are meant to be preventing. Too many damn chiefs all pointing the finger all the time with theirs thumbs stuck up their backsides.

RE: Irish don't game?

I would say that one of the reasons is the poor internet connectivity outside of any city, and even if you do have excellent connectivity, a lot of people won't waste their data usage on gaming, if you go over your limit the charges can cripple you. Another reason is probably down to people just not having the time in modern Ireland.

RE: What do Men Look for in Women's Profiles

The thing with any profile is that you are never going to be sure if that profile is in anyway truthful, and it is extremely difficult to determine anyone's real character from just a few lines of text, it takes time to get to actually know anyone, and that is the same for both men and women.

RE: Do other lonely men feel intimidated on CS ???

As with any community, there are those who are suspicious of any new member to the group, there are those who see newbies as a threat to the established order, and there are those who don't care as long you are a decent sort. Ignore the ones who are trying to get at you, they are not worth your time or the hassle.

People seem to forget that this is a FREE OPEN forum, and that they have no right of ownership of it, regardless of how long they have been here.

.....and if you think things are abusive now, you should have been here previously....JeBus......there were some seriously nasty comments on here at times.

RE: Would You Donate Your Organs

Question for those who would not donate.
Would you have no problem accepting if your life depended on it???

After all if you are prepared to refuse to donate, should refuse to accept as well?????

RE: would you eat elephant meat from Africa...?

Best way to ensure the survival of a species is probably to farm it for its meat. After all, you don't see the domesticated cows, sheep, pig, chicken or turkey on any endangered species lists.

RE: No one is perfect

We live in an age where the image of perfection has become an obsession, we have to have the perfect clothes, the perfect body, perfect hair, perfect house, with perfectly manicured lawns, with a perfect partner and perfect children.....and there is always someone, somewhere, willing to sell us the perfect product to achieve perfection.

Often when you see behind facade of these perfect lives, everything is far from perfect.

People need to accept that imperfection is far more common than perfection, and they might actually start being happy, instead of being miserable because they are less than perfect.

RE: My Pet Hates

I can maybe understand the first two, but socks in bed?????
Are you peeping in peoples windows at bed time???? laugh devil

RE: drugs

...and the ones drinking tea will be tut tutting and saying "down with that sort of thing," devil laugh

RE: When you kick the bucket .....?

BBQ for me, seeing how I do love spare ribs.

RE: weddings....complete snorefest!

Why go in the first place?? Just because you are invited, doesn't mean you have to accept, you can always say NO.

As for weddings themselves, I think they have lost all meaning, it use to be because two people wanted to get married and spend their lives together, now it seems more about the day of the marriage and spending shed loads of money to impress the neighbours.

Also, if a girls wedding day is the happiest day of her life, does that mean it is all down hill from there????

RE: how fit are you ..

There are a couple of things that most of the get fit and diet articles you read don't tell you that you are going to need if you want to lose weight and get fit, and they are determination and persistence.
Unless you stick at it you will find yourself very quickly back to square one.

Most people are looking for a quick fix, the latest no pain fad that will instantly give you the toned body you always wanted. Unfortunately when people have lost the desired weight they lapse back into old habits and pile on the pounds again.

I have my own little training routine, and I try to eat healthy, but I will admit that I often times just get lazy and fall back to old habits, then I get a bit of a fit of guilt when I see my expanding waste line and go back to my routine again.

RE: Gazz, Palestine, (Petition)

Good job you didn't mention curly wurly's.... laugh

RE: Gazz, Palestine, (Petition)

...and all country and western singers for the Garth Brooks fiasco.devil

RE: Labour Party

Same sewer, different turd.

RE: garth brooks

A large organisation thinking it can just snap its fingers and get what it wants when it wants, money men in the middle selling something decidedly dodgy, residents being ignored, loads of people out of pocket and being caused massive inconvenience, out of date and not fit for purpose planning laws......and if that wasn't enough, a cowboy smack in the middle of it all!!! doh

Where have I heard all this before??? sigh

Does this country never learn???? doh frustrated

RE: garth brooks

Wouldn't get this much press coverage if Jesus had cancelled the second coming, even the IMF bailout didn't cause this much anger with the nations frustrated line dancing house wives.

RE: what's on your mind part 20

Does that mean you are thinking outside the box???laugh

RE: IRELAND

You got to wonder if the Irish nation is so use to be being used and abused by those in power that it knows no other way, that we have become accustomed to our abusers that we don't know what life would be like without them.

Stockholm syndrome on a national scale???

RE: A right Minger

The problem Ming will face is that he is going from being an individual in a parliament of 166 to be being an individual in a parliament of 751.

I do wish him well and hope he stirs it up over there, as the EU need a good kick up the bum. (and no I am not anti Europe, I am anti totalitarian Eurocracy!)

RE: hypnosis

What Glatlol said.....same with patches, gum, inhalers, cold turkey and any other way to give up, no point in trying unless you are ready and determined.

RE: OH THEY'RE GROVELLING NOW COMING UP TO FRIDAYS ELECTION ,,,

What gets me is the virtual cult status political parties have here, once you are born into FF/FG/LAB family, you are indoctrinated into an unquestioning loyalty to that party, I equate a lot of the party faithful to cult members, blindly following the doctrines of their leaders, endlessly repeating what ever the latest mantra their high priests tell them to. Even after all their leaders have done, even after all the lies, even after the utter economic devastation and humiliation of the country, people are still blinded to anything outside of the church of their party.

RE: OH THEY'RE GROVELLING NOW COMING UP TO FRIDAYS ELECTION ,,,

I heard all that in the late 80's, just before I emigrated, I also heard the FF rhetoric "we have changed," after Haughey and his crowd were caught out taking their brown envelopes, and I also heard all the "our children's future," bollix from every single last politician at the time.
I would have one piece of advice for anyone who does emigrate, DON'T MOVE BACK....EVER!!!!
I did, and I there are times I wonder if I was temperately insane for doing so.

RE: Pubs

This hasn't just been caused by the supermarket cheap booze, it has also been caused by the total opposite, pubs charging outrageous prices for a pint.
Many pubs where I live do not open until lunch time, and then once the lunch trade is gone, close again till the evening, there are even some that don't open up till after 4pm as there is no longer the trade to justify opening, and even then if you go in midweek you might be the only person in the place.
