Doing a lot of laundry, (GRRR ) Taking the cat to the vet.. Cleaning out the hedgehog box in the garden (in prep for hibernation) Picking up leaves.. (aaarrghh!).. Watching the *Bewitched* movie (because I keep falling asleep before the end) sitting by the fire sipping mulled wine (and falling asleep)..
Going out with my friends.. (WAAAYHEYY!) Working with my son on maths (he has a test on Monday).. and painting my fingernails.
The same thing happened to me a little over a year ago.. it reeeeeally put me off getting anyone else involved in my children's lives. He got on brilliantly with them and they liked him very much. But when it came to the crunch he wimped out.. The kids were gutted and like the OPs thought it was their fault. It really knocked them sideways for a while.
I'm really not sure how I would handle it next time. Like the OP ( I think) said.. what are you supposed to do? not tell the kids until you are practically living together.. or introduce them until they get on well.. but risk them being hurt? its not easy. hmmm.
The funny thing is.. that same man calls .. texts and emails me again now.. doing the *ole woe is me*.. I made a mistake etc.. but I'm just not interested any more. I wouldn't trust him not to do it again. He has no idea HOW much he hurt us.
I was going to fly from Newquay to Dublin .. because I fancied a bit of sight seeing (pubs ) .. I might come and meet you all next time you do it then. I think its only about an hour on that plane trip.
I received that story in an email years ago.. I don't know whether its true or not. But I do think that even if it weren't, there are certainly touching real stories out there like it.
