In Their Shadow.....

My prayer today for parents true,
Decent people to their core,
Resting 'neath a shady yew,
Safe with God, their worries o'er.
Sad verses penned, with gulping tears,
A poignant anniversary,
How swiftly pass the ebbing years,
Since they became a memory.
Dad was strict, poor behaviour banned,
While Mam was kind, I reminisc,
Imprinted on my rear, the palm of his hand,
Embedded on my cheek, her gentle kiss.
They raised us right, all brothers three,
Tight rules and respect abounded there,
Each night we said.."The Rosary"
Kneeling beside a kitchen chair.
Times were hard, but they'd seen worse,
Poverty ne'er our lives impede,
. Love was abundant, while money scarce,
Though financially poor, we were wealthy indeed.
A mark of respect, a word of thanks,
They prepared us well for future life,
Those welcome hugs, and well deserved spanks,
A magical cure for sibling strife.
Fond thoughts today of good instilled,
Such dedication of parents strong,
A celebration of lives fulfilled,
Forever in their shadow, we journey on.
We feel them now, their presence still,
Behind the stars, quietly peeping,
Alive in memory, and always will,
They have not died, just softly sleeping.
The trials of life they fought and won,
We're grateful now eternally,
For all the blessings that first begun,
In our simple Irish family !

About this poem:
Our parents lived united into their eighties,
Both dying within a few months of each other.

Dad (Mick) would say.....
"Society has taken away "the slap"....
But replaced it with nothing !"

Mam ( Maggie ) would say.....
"Entice birds to your garden
they bring smiles.....
and smiling is a cheap way to
improve your looks."

God bless them both !

Moonlight Rendezvous. (A Sonnet).

Amid intoxicating green, our Love bestow,
I plucked for her a bunch of forest flowers,
A lovestruck arrow strayed from Cupid's bow,
And pierced a tearful cloud to April showers.
We trod the rugged path towards the steeple,
Together dancing wildly in the rain,
Flirting unaware of passing people,
To please our yearning we could not abstain.
Her female curves my wanting eyes impress,
She moved with poise and grace of noble swan,
To blushing moon removed her silken dress,
Our pleading Siamese limbs conjoined as one.

'Til the moon with bloodshot eye expelled a yawn,
Retiring then bowed curtsy to the dawn.

Infidelity.

In the cold light of day, love's price I must pay,
As she bows to her handsome new master,
Now his easy lay, our future betray,
While it lies in ruin and disaster.

Her untrusting word, like the edge of a sword,
From my heart draws a trickle of blood,
My speech became slurred, my vision all blurred,
As I fall to my knees in the mud.

'Mid the lines of this verse, an invisible hearse,
To bury the remains of my sorrow,
In sad tears immersed, harm can't be reversed,
To pay for her sins, I now borrow.

My memory long dead, banished from her head,
As she stares at the ceiling above 'er,
Thoughts of pleasure instead, as bare she lies spread,
'Neath the gyrating hips of her lover.

But someday yet, there'll be haunting regret,
As their sins they'll be forced to expel,
With red-hot sweat, to repay Satan's debt,
For eternity in the furnace of Hell !

Distant Dreams. (Sonnet)

In distant dreams an angel 'oft appears,
In awe she wanders Springtime's vibrant hill,
As wild bird songs exalt with merry cheer,
'Mid lesser celandine and daffodil.

In this majestic slumber I am lost,
Her beauty fair to woo my smitten eye,
From sprouting buds 'till flowers bedecked with frost,
Her lips afar, I wish our kiss be nigh.

My minds eye sees her prance lush meadows green,
While cirrus sky beholds her countenance,
On Nature's throne, she reigns as Noble Queen,
I yearn tread yonder fields in fiery dance.

If I held all my dreams since life begun,
I'd hap'ly fling them all away... but one !

Lines From A Lonely Place.

Hark ! In the distance, a begrudging sneer,
A prying eye spies my falling tear,
Crashing on the page, this verse to smear,
If only they knew my plight !

In this wretched space so lost and alone,
Soft heart transformend to hardened stone,
A seeping wound much deeper than bone,
Draining my will to fight !

My head bent low with dolor profound,
Scolding tears to stain the ground,
Nature my second love, gathers around,
I could kiss a tree this night !

For now, love's future destitute,
Sympathetic gestures I will refute,
Thoughts of her, this pain dilute,
Pitch darkness with a sprinkle of bright !

Just take me away to a tearful place,
'Neath a willow to share her weeping space,
Whose drooping limbs will me encase,
And hide my grief from sight !

A loveless mess, I fall distraught,
No lesson learned, yet harshly taught,
For her I'd once again get caught,
I hold not grudge nor spite !

I know I'll quell this relentless pain,
Self pity to hold no earthly gain,
My self belief I pray regain,
God please ! Send me some respite !

Gone Are The Days.........

Gone are the days of the innocent dream,
A time when love showed respect,
When chivalrous men displayed high esteem,
Poor manners, proper ladies would deflect.

Lost in the shadows of a rude modern world,
Cool to show promiscuous behavior,
s*xual disarray and disease unfurled,
Common decency their only saviour.

I recall a time when love was young,
An innocence so precious to savour,
Lips soft kisses speak, not foul mouthed tongue,
Our breath minty, not cigarette flavour.

We oft' whispered a prayer to our silver coins,
Then released them to the old wishing well,
Stared at them glint as they fell entwined,
Just as we would, under starryeyed spell.

'Neath the shedding cherry blossom, where lovers used meet,
Like confetti when the breeze did blow,
We'd laugh and kiss on the worn wooden seat,
Petals showering like a fall of pink snow.

Oh ! Where are they now, those bygone days ?
Return to us please !... we implore,
Banished forever in respectful haze,
Replaced by a lawless street whore !

~~Natural Healing~~

Alone with my Lymphoma my senses have grown,
A complete change of focus, some new seeds sown,
Mother Nature called out with magnetic support,
“Take note of my beauty and your ills I will sort”,
On a woodland walk in the country I went,
Saw a fox disappear as he picked up my scent,
Had it not been for that I may never have seen,
That beautiful rainbow through the bows so green.
I even enjoyed the mist on my face,
It put a shine on the foliage to enhance the place,
I can’t recall admiring scattered puddles before,
But these were shiny mirrors on the forest floor,
When I gaped inside to study the view,
I realised my life was turned upside down too,
Nature was helping much more than I thought,
Because of the awareness to my senses it brought,
Suddenly! the noise of a hawk in the air,
It swirled and swooped as I stood and stared,
I could only admire how he patrolled the skies,
While ultimately plotting some rodents demise,
From these simple studies I absorbed much relief,
Sights, scents, and sounds surpassing belief,
They kept me from pondering on things like my death,
When my thoughts should only have been my next breath,
Later the moon rose behind a thorny hedge,
As a trout in the river engulfed it’s final sedge,
Time to wander home now from this place that I yearn,
Tomorrow back to Nature and more lessons to learn.

Falling Still. (Sonnet).

This love it stirs like fury in my soul,
Deep feelings to deny would be a crime,
To kiss your lips, I'm losing all control,
Increasing still, despite the passing time.

Absence never makes this warm heart cold,
What should have fallen, keeps on rising new,
This secret burns my brain, I can't withhold..
A love that ne'er diminished, only grew.

Hunger for you rages in my blood,
Raw passion unreleased is growing still,
To grasp you strong, and taste your flesh I would....
Ravish you with wild undying will.

My heart enwrapped by you, like sprawling creeper,
Whose limbs I'd climb so high, while falling deeper.

" Cold Wind--Warm Skin "

Drawn to the privacy of the quiet beach,
And the deafening roar of the waves,
To the mangled shells, and seagull screech,
We surrendered to our bodies, like slaves.

For that seaside was our wild and secret love place,
With our toes we drew hearts in the shale,
A handful of seaweed she smeared in my face,
I splashed water on her bare bosoms pale.

The sea spray bit cold on our naked skin,
As she teased and taunted so well,
Her magnetic curves how they drew me in,
Like the ocean I did seethe and swell.

Goose bumps crawled on our bodies entwined,
As the harsh wind caressed from the South,
We groped for heat from desires combined,
And the warm saline taste of our mouths.

The moonlight danced high as the sea did ebb,
Our spent bodies now bared to the sky,
The traces of our love play on the rippled sandy bed,
Not even the waves could deny.

We lay starkers on the strand, no madding crowds,
Still flirting in the naughty nip,
Our only company the shadows of the clouds,
And the drone of a distant ship.

Alas ! Our bliss was destined to fade,
Ne'er again to converge in the tide,
The moon no more a voyeur to lust displayed,
When mad youths their pleasures not hide.

Memories now so vivid, I could nearly touch,
The tangles in her wild windswept hair,
Or fondle the breasts that I miss so much,
As across the barren beach I stare.

"An Autumn Moment in Spring" (Tanka)

A leaf has fallen,
Against it's wishes today,
Removed by ill wind,
From a place it graced on high,
My eyes sad to see it down.

Four Seasons......One Love !

In a sharp fresh breeze,
On a crisp Spring day,
Hand in hand in verdure stroll,
Under lush chirping trees,
Among flowering buds stray,
New birth, and new love to extol.

On a balmy Summer's eve,
When the butterflies dance,
In the meadow we fell warm and unseen,
Winsome kisses to thieve,
In mesmeric love trance,
Garments lost in the trampled green.

Gold Autumnal mornings,
Of yellow ripened corn,
Flowing like the amber of your hair,
I loved you all those dawnings,
As the leaves fell forlorn,
Your puckered lips an answer to prayer.

Icy moonlit nights,
Frostbitten fingertips,
From Winter's penetrating chill,
'Neath mystic starlight,
We tasted freezing lips,
Seasons pass, ....but I'll love you still !

Just One Slowburn Kiss.

Wandering lost, devoid love's fragrant scent,
My need for you so bad, you'd ne'er believe,
Cruel East wind bites my skin, without relent,
Dreams of you bring warmth, my pain relieve.

Nought I wouldn't give to hold you close,
And share with you this feeling bursting through,
To celebrate life's gems, I love the most,
Abundant Nature's flowers & birds.....and you !

The lyrics of my song deliberately plain,
Played from raw heart strings, no fancy script,
I prayed love soon to sate our yearning twain,
This heart for you, so 'oft a beat has skipped.

One slowburn kiss ! My eyes in yours to stray,
To trade my soul, such price I'd gladly pay !
