When friends sometimes pontificate about growing old and the related realities of ageing, I am always reminded of that famous writing of Dylan Thomas: 'Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night.'
While the poem is actually more concerned with death than growing old, there are lessons there to be learned that also apply to becoming elderly. For example, the opening line is as follows: "Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at the close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light."
My point (actually Dylan Thomas's point) is we should not just accept 'growing old' and slink off to a corner to die. Instead, we should "rage, rage against the dying of the light."
I interpret that to mean we should live life with gusto right up until the last minute. No excuses. No apologies.

If he creates these insecurities in you leave him get psychological help build your self esteem you deserve the best not put downs self doubt .......it's better to be alone than with wrong guy . I speak for women as a woman women need to take care of each other as it's still a man's world out there so don't thin k you can go out there behave like a guy cos it won't work won't make you happy . I think people will be be "evil" or "bad" whatever. Just they use the general consensus view as an excuse to hide behind.
So Wars of Royal Succession, Nepoleanic Wars, World War I, World War II, Stalin, Korean War, Vietnam War - I fail to see the religious connection. Also I think I could find many other examples, and a good historian even more.
Sure the Crusades and the 30 Years War were religious, but staying with a western christain perspective "the colonial wars" - they were really about empire building. However during this time period "the age of discovery" - missionaries were really active, peacefully spreading their beliefs. Furthermore, thousands of them, and those they had converted were executed. Should we say these colonial conquests and missonary campaigns were the same thing? Or two things happening at the same time?
What do you think about the Japanese Shogun Period? The Portuguese and the Dutch tried to establish trade, but at the same time the Japanese saw Christianity as a destabilising force, and so killed thousands of Christians. Were these Christains part of an attempt to spread "the Good News" like the early Christains during the Roman period and Dark Ages or part of a Colonial plan?
Religion is not a corrupt political institution of power, though such an institution may claim it is.
