Biscotti...

I can (usually) resist cookies and donuts, but the other night in the grocery store they had Biscotti on sale... 2fer1. This style is heavy double baked unlike others that are soft and spongy.
Almond & Vanilla. I'm up to one a day... okay, two a day and see my supply dwindling. I might not make it through the week.

Sodium Chloride... and other things

It was raining Saturday morning and my plans to get to Miami were delayed. On the way down we stopped in Hollywood to run an important errand and ate lunch at a sandwich shop before heading to Miami. The tuna sub was awful...

After a few hours of painting, I suggested visiting the local buffet for the take out for dinner. We continued painting (I was patching holes and cracks with plaster ahead of the paint) but I needed some trim moulding and went to Home Depot for more supplies before they closed.

By the time I returned it was after 9pm, my hands and feet were swollen... obviously something in the food I ate. All you can eat buffets are notorious for lacing food with salt MSG.

The sun is out, I'm charging batteries and plan to catch a few model helicopter flights before getting back into the painting mode.

I got up early, looked in the mirror and see my face is swollen... kinda like Alec Baldwin.
If it's not better when I get back, I'll have to take some hydrochlorothiazide.

The Things We Learn

For years I made my own dog food. After I got the three pound Chi, she just shared my meals so no dog food had to be made. Then when I inherited Lucy, I decided to go back to making my own. Yesterday I went to college (my you tube) to make sure I'm making it healthy. Whew did I learn a lot about dog food.

There are some Nutrients I wasn't adding but need to.
Beans for magnesium (the girls don't like beans so I will have to mash them)
Cod Liver Oil for Omega 3
an egg and grind up half the egg shell for Calcium
Kelp powder & ground ginger (for something but I forget)
I used yams & carrots but I didn't know I wasn't supposed to peel them, more nutritional if not peeled.
When using chicken or beef - add a small amount of liver for iron.

The rest of the ingredients I already used. The only thing is NEVER to use onions or garlic which is toxic to dogs. (Shame as I have used garlic in almost everything)

Making cat food is a different ball game but I'm not playing that one as I don't own cats.

Our daily bread...

I usually select French bread for sandwiches. When it's not available, Cuban style bread is my second choice. Sunday, I tried something different. I'll categorize it to be hand-made bread and not the ones typically produced by machines.
Already cut in 1/2" slices, darker in color, harder in texture, I toasted 2 slices with butter and the flavor was really tasty. Three hours later, I had indigestion that required antacid and a glass of sparkling water.
Tuesday night, I tried one slice dipped in soup... again, I'm up in the middle of the night drinking sparkling water to make the 'bubbling in my stomach' go away.
I'm thinking it has to do with the yeast the bread was made from. Not a totally new experience, I've had that with Rye bread (made from scratch) at the Publix Bakery and learned to avoid some of their products.

Another cup of soda water and it's off to bed!

English cuisine....

....sure, we all know how many look down their noses at the prospect. After welsh rarebit and F&C, what is there, really? But look a bit closer, especially at the baked/biological goods. Peasant breads can be to die for. Cheeses and beers, as well. Today, as part of fathers' day, the twins baked me the most delicious rhubarb scones ever. They came up to raid the red rhubarb by the veggie garden, at the Vk/Aa mansion estate. Somewhere they found a book on the use of this tasty medicinal hardy weed, and have been making chutneys, scones, pies, and more. Stalks only peebles----leaves are dangerous. Yummy. Hail Britannia.

On sale on ebay ! However, before you rush your money in guys, it's a bit of a hoax.
The melons don't actually look anything like the picture posted on ebay.

Here's an actual video of people picking the 'melons'.

Blog Prophecy

I posted a "blog" and an accompanying video that I considered to be harmless. I suggested that it was something offensive and of a pornographic nature and because the link didn't have a thumbnail, it was really up to the reader to click on it or not.

It was nothing more than a music video, and an old joke really. Most got it and played along in comments. I posted a response in comments that suggested that the blog would probably be deleted because it was so offensive...and *poof*.

Now I'm left wondering if I broke an obscure blog rule or if CS Punk'd me--or if I've "literally" dipped my toe into some kind of supernatural wishing well?
dunno

Anyway, and since it's possible that by suggesting that the blog would be deleted that I forged my own destiny, I'm now suggesting that my c*ck will double in size, Warren Buffet will include me in his will, and Jennifer Aniston will remove the restraining order.

Wish me luck!grin

Hold on to your seats kiddies...

Hold on to your seats kiddies... because MANGO SEASON is just around the bend.
Grocery shopping today and mangoes from Central America around $1 each.
I found a different variety from Mexico that's $2 each.

My tree bears over 300 per season... so many I have to give most of them away!

The photo is what's coming up this season from my place.
