Rugby today

With a name like Duhan van der Merwe everyone can guess that he a is a South African born professional rugby union player, who plays as a center and wing for Edinburgh Rugby and for the Scotland national rugby union team and currently for the Britishlions.
Today at 18h00 is the tiebreaker between the Springboks and the lions. Hopefully someone will tackle the arrogant prick very hard and bring him down to earth.
Hope i dont lose my money.

The Kentucky Derby

Today is the 144th running of The Kentucky Derby. It dates back to 1875. The winner of that race was Aristides and the jockey was Oliver Lewis. The most wins by a jockey is 5 with Eddie Arcaro and Bill Hartack each achieving that feat. I went to the race in 1997 and saw Silver Charm win the run for the roses.

I will leave you with a 100 year old whimsical song about horses.

Super Bowl LVII

Feb 12, 2023, look for my Cincinnati Bengals to meet the San Francisco 49'ers in this years Super Bowl. The only times my Bengals went to the Super Bowl was in the 80's, in Jan. 1982 and Jan 1989. Both were against San Francisco. Last year my Bengals went to their third Super Bowl, and we played the L.A. Rams, who just knocked off San Fran. My Bengals lost again in that one, but now everything's coming together to get that sweet revenge I had been waiting for with a third meeting with San Fran.

Right now my Bengals will have to get past Kansas City this coming Sunday, and San Fran. will have to get past Philly.

Any football fans out there with any thoughts, feel free to share.

Slappy New Year!

Gotta love the Russians! The only drawback is that the loser will almost certainly walk away 'butt-hurt'.

Oh right, there seems to be a new blogging style here where you post the first comment to your own blog.

Women send powerful message in Olympic track and field

TOKYO (AP) — They set records everyone saw coming and others that surprised the experts.

They suffered, and battled, and spoke their truth in ways that hadn’t been heard before.

Over nine days at the near-empty Olympic Stadium, the women of track and field delivered a memorable show, both inside the lines and out.

These are some of the athletes who defined the meet in Tokyo: Allyson Felix, Sydney McLaughlin, Sifan Hassan, Raven Saunders, Elaine Thompson-Herah.

Theirs was a sport in need of a good boost, not only because of the year-long delay sparked by the virus, but because no matter when they returned, Usain Bolt would no longer draw eyes to the track simply by showing up.

The women delivered — not so much with the feel-good, dance-a-minute vibe that Bolt brought, but with a series of inspiring performances and messages that showed the heart of their sport was still beating strong.

Lots of all dressed up and no place to go.

This morning I was to coach & play for an all-star team I put together to win the New Jersey State Championship.
The team I played on last year won it all and I put together a much better team this year.

It took lots of planning over the last 2 months and many phone calls and emails to make it come to fruition.
After some cancellations (i.e. death in the family, etc..) and some notifications,
that some players could only make the early games and other players could only make the later games,
I spent a lot of time making various final line-ups for different games late last night.

So, early this morning I get a call from the tournament commissioner, that the fields took a hit last night from heavy rains and that the first game would be delayed an hour from the scheduled start time.
But, he would update us after he got to the fields.

So, I contacted all the players immediately to update them, as some players are traveling quite a distance.

Then, I get a call, that the fields are unplayable today and that the tournament is postponed until tomorrow
morning.
So, I re-contacted all my teammates to relay that message.

Thus, this morning there was a whole lot of guys all dressed up in uniforms with no place to go. sigh laugh

Hopefully, the same thing won't happen tomorrow morning. frustrated
