Life's big picture

As I ponder what it is that each gender wants in a partner, I cannot help but think that there are going to be inevitable conflicts within the opposite gender we seek.

Are we destined by life to be partners? I would say yes. We need to reproduce to be life...otherwise life itself would no longer exist. In order to create life, we need to partner up.

So therefore, we need to pick a partner we wish or want to procreate with.

For a woman, she desires security. That could be a tall guy. That could be a wealthy guy. That could be a well adapted socially intelligent guy. That might be a physically strong guy. The list goes on. Many (if not all) women want all of these traits in the guy they choose to reproduce with.

The problem is, God did not design all men in such a way to satisfy all women. If all men were tall, there would be no tall men. There needs to be short men in order to have tall men. If all men were physically strong, there would be no strong men. There needs to be physically weak men in order for there to be strong men. .....and so on and so on.

The same can be said about men's desires with the woman he wants to reproduce with....she is to be young, she is to be healthy looking (hair & breasts). She is to be of an agreeable nature. She is to be nurturing.

Not all women are these traits.

So why did God create such variations of humans?

Maybe the answer to that question has to do with Life's Big Picture.

Perhaps our purpose.

Remember, we need to partner up to have life in the first place. Need....

Maybe we are here to test our ego, to test our vanity, to test our level of selfishness.....how much will we bend to our personal desires? Will we bend to our personal desires to the point where we will eliminate ourselves...deny life; thus, deny ourselves?

Growing a banana tree from a banana...

Growing a banana tree from a banana. That doesn't happen, right? I'm told the only way to grow a banana tree is small trees that sprout from a larger tree. This farming information comes from people who lived in banana growing countries.

When my family moved to Florida, there were a few banana trees growing over the septic tank. The distance down until you hit cement was about 2 feet and the trees uprooted during a hurricane. We didn't replant them so no more bananas in my back yard.
Some 40 years later, my son-in-law started growing bananas that he got from a private pilot who traveled to Venezuela. The pilot brought the small trees over himself. The variety were short 'finger bananas' that were tasty. He was able quickly grow 20 trees and gave me a few small trees.

I cleared an area in my back yard, added top soil and fertilizer, watered them daily... Wow, Banana trees started growing like crazy! A year later, I'm expecting to see some fruit. Two years later, I'm expecting to see some fruit. Three years later, I'm expecting to see some fruit. But nothing.

One weekend, I was doing a yard sale and a woman who introduces herself as the daughter of my neighbor asks about the banana crop. I revealed nothing so far. She said I was using the wrong nutrient. Fertilizer from Home Depot is what I told her. No... she told me I had to put my garbage in the ground... especially eggshells.

She asked for some small trees that I gladly gave her and she said she would return to see the progress. The reason for the yard sale was to get ready to sell my house. I never connected with her again.

The woman who bought my place was Hispanic and loved my huge mango tree and a few years growth of banana trees. Sadly, when I drove by, the banana trees were gone and the mango tree was much, much smaller than when I left.

So, here I am 3 years later, living in a condo community that doesn't allow for any fruit trees. My neighbor is growing papaya and the landscaping crew pulls his trees around the time they bear fruit. Bastards.

On YouTube, I found there are several videos describing how to grow a banana tree from a banana. Eureka! It can be done and they all have nearly the same method.

As long as they are less than 8 feet high, I can grow them on my back screened in porch that get lots of afternoon sunlight. When I have enough, I'll transplant them behind the tall shrubs near the canal along the golf course.

Now, the realty as many of the YouTube photos are 100% BS, you cannot grow a stalk of 30 bananas on a tree that is less than 3 feet tall. Not on planet earth, so I'll have to do the discovery myself. If this doesn't work, I'll go to a plant nursery and buy a tree and start the process all over again.

Oh, you're so rude...

I'm back from the Farmer's Market... unscathed. The snow-birds have gone back North so it's now possible to stop and put something in your cart without having someone jab your ankles with their cart.

That doesn't mean it's not busy, especially for a Saturday afternoon.

The highlight was when a woman had her cart cross-ways in the intersection of two aisles. She was oblivious that her cart was blocking the path of no less than 7 people. So, one guy straightened her cart and moved it about four feet from it's location. As she turned and realized her cart had been moved, the man spoke and said "Your cart was blocking the aisle so I moved it here" as he pointed to it four feet away.

Yeah... she was annoyed. The audacity of him moving her cart! She grabbed control and pulled it back to the location it was before he moved it and let him know "Oh, you're so rude."

I was done shopping and headed to the registers. She was ahead of me and appeared to be going to the front of the store as well. But, she kept looking over her shoulder as if she was ready to 'tangle' with me!

Thanks, but no thanks...

Wait... wait. Are you sure about that?

When Trump left the White House, he took documents that should have been turned over to the National Archives. Months of back-and-forth and a subpoena got some returned. Somewhere along the way, his lawyers said all the documents were returned, but they had wrong information. The FBI conducted a search to get the documents back and If you recall, Trump went on social media and in the news complaining about how the search was conducted.

Maybe you one of the ones who sided with Trump, not only for the way the search was conducted but that he had rights to keep the documents in question. That search was about 9 months ago.

We're not done yet.
I heard some things today that are news (to me) where some of the Mar-a-Lago staff revealed they were instructed to do a dress rehearsal of moving boxes a day before the search and at least one of Trump's attorneys was present for the search.
I didn't pay attention to the second part, which is more significant.
While Trump claimed it was a surprise, it appears Corcoran, one of his his legal advisers confirmed the date with FBI when they could meet to pick up the documents.

Did Trump know or did he not know the date they were to arrive for the search?
We do know he was away and It was stated he was watching via the surveillance cameras.

So far, none of this is looking to be in favor of Trump. At the CNN televised meeting he admitted to having the documents and believes he has the right to retain them.

Online dating from a male perspective

What's our priorities

Speaking for myself it's definitely not to have children or be a off the shelf dad, I have 3 adult children and a 95 year old mum. Or to get married I have had 30 + years experience and I am Agnostic. ( Look up the meaning)
I am not interested in being someone you need as a social attachment, like a hand bag or to make up for your financial mismanagement.
I would love to be with you because we both want to be together, I still believe that our s*xual chemistry is really important for both of us.
You know that feeling, in bed at night cuddling a pillow thinking What's she or he doing now. Can I jump in to the car and visit? Or are you going to turn up at 2am in your dressing gown for my company. I promise I will make you breakfast or take you to brunch. ( Not sure what you would wear to the Brunch)
You both going to a Blues concert screaming you heads of to Stairway to Heaven or really kicking out to Honky Tonk Women (my god lady I did not know you could look so sexy ) just recently saw the LAB concert in Whangarei
Doing a road trip stopping at all those amazing opp shops looking for that overlooked Bargain Jeepers it's got to be worth $200 at least and they only want $50 (lol)
Then stopping at those amazing farmers market wow huge Mussel fritters 2 for $10 and what has be the best Avocados we have ever seen.
Lots of us fill in our profile and then completely forget about it.
Well if you are wondering why we haven't contacted you back it could be because you originally put a age restriction of 3 yrs older and 20 yrs younger this is very common for women. Guys have a bit of a more narrow range, unless they are cradle snatches like me. The website's computers enforce the restrictions you applied by not allowing us to contact you. Even though you had sent a like or message we cannot reply, due to the restrictions you put in place.
I sometimes will not reply back because the language you use those not match your profile. ( You are supposed to be a English lit major yet the slang is African street slang )
I recently had a meet-up for drinks at the Judge in Whangarei on a Friday. I was stood up.
Well I found out later the lady was sitting two tables away. Her photo was 5 + years older and she was 9 kg heavier, which is a hell of a lot on a 150 to 152 cm women. She had recognised me and I had not recognised her as I had failed to ask if she was still a brunette etc, so she rightfully felt insulted.
I think she realised that I had walked right pass her because of these factors.(This why I think a meet up on video is great)

Lastly please put a current photo so both of us know what to expect and no photos that are not age appropriate. There is without doubt nothing worse than an overweight man or woman wearing clothing that is age inappropriate.
Let's have fun and look after our bodies and enjoy each other's differences.

Noosehim

I told my boyfriend that I can’t watch governor Newsom because he’s too good looking. I can’t focus on what he’s saying. I told him so I have to rely on your interpretation. My boyfriend said he tries to tell other states what to do even though he’s governor of California. And you can’t disagree with anything he says because he’s the governor of California. laugh I suppose his only redeeming quality is his looks then.

And no my boyfriend didn’t mind that I said that about Newsom. He’s secure in himself. I’m actually the one ashamed of myself that I can’t even focus on a word he says because he’s beautiful. I’m a sucker for beauty.

DeSantis: Governor and presidential candidate at the same time...

I'm reading a story tonight that states a Florida lawmaker is introducing an amendment that would allow Governor Ron DeSantis to run for president of the United States and not have to resign his position as governor of Florida.
Isn't that a case of having your cake and eating it too!
Currently, any politician holding office who decides to run for president must resign that position. My guess is it's because you're out on the campaign trail day and night and not at your office serving the people who voted you there.

So, the 'strike-all' amendment was filed earlier today by Republican senator Travis Hutson, whom DeSantis endorsed last year.

If passed, that assures DeSantis can hold on to his position of Florida's governor and be allowed to campaign should he decide to run for president in 2024 and not get the party's nomination and win the election. Sound right?

My, my Ron... what perfect timing you have.

Always the reader comments are classic:
Richard:
"What good is a law when you can change it on a whim? Would they do that if a Democrat was governor? When you have a body that will change laws to placate one person you aren't far from a dictatorship."

Scott:
"GOP gamesmanship: If you can't win with the cards you're dealt, stack the deck."

Stephen:
"Is he getting a state salary while out politicking???"

AB:
"Also known as the "I don't have a lot of confidence in my chances to win the Presidential election, so I want to keep my old job just in case" bill."

Mystery Team:
"I think the books covering Florida Law have tripled in volume since this guy took office. So much for smaller government."

How many more times treat me the way you wanna do?

E. Jean Carroll won her defamation suit against Donald J. Trump where the court ordered him to pay nearly $5 million. During the trial he was posting offensive comments about the woman despite the judges warning. My opinion, was the judge should have given a demand and not a request. That way, he could have been found in contempt and a night in jail would have been a clear message... they could have picked him up at the airport on his return from his Scottish golfing trip.

Right after the court decision, like nothing happened, he again defamed Carroll in a televised town meeting and again after in a rally. Obviously, he hasn't learned to STFU and on Monday, Carroll's lawyers amended the lawsuit, seeking at least $10 million more in a court filing that seeks to hold him liable for additional remarks he made after the verdict.

How many more times...

The chair draggers...

My neighbor is in her 80's and her son living with her is in his 60's. Originally from New Jersey, they would spend winters in Florida and summers at home. COVID changed their schedule and it looks like they are going to be here year-round.
I've only seen her 3 times and one of those times, paramedics had to escort her to emergency. Her son rarely comes out too. Usually, to check mail or to get groceries. He doesn't go far as he carries oxygen, usually by a portable machine slung over his shoulder with a nasal cannula and short tubing.
I know when they are up as I hear them 'bumbling around' as early as 5am. Banging doors or walls loud enough to wake me from a sound sleep. Usually, breakfast is around 7am. I know this as I can hear them scooting their wooden chairs on the tile floor. The chair dragging is intermittent, but it actually goes on all day. Sometimes, it sounds like they are rearranging furniture and pushing the dining table back and forth a few feet.
If you have experienc dragging a chair to the table in a few 'short bursts' you probably know the sound I'm describing.

I consulted a friend about offering them some self-adhesive felt pads they could stick on the bottom of the chair legs, but I'm told that's a bad idea and I sold just tolerate the dragging noises... at least I know they are alive!

The soul-stealing city part 1

The soul-stealing city
The story says that a boy / man ventured on a journey to a new world, unknown to him. And when he arrived there, in a dark city, he got out of the carriage, and the visitor offered him a lighted candle, and told him that the place where he was now was very dangerous, and that it was nicknamed The soul-stealing city. He also told him that whatever he does, he should not take his eyes off the lit candle and not let it go out under any circumstances. But also that the candle could burn forever, as long as he did not divert his attention from it. Our young man nodded, as if he understood, took a few steps on the strange and dark streets, after which the Carriage with which he had come left in a hurry. Shortly after, our young man found a newspaper on the ground near a puddle, he bent down and picked it up, distracting himself from the ever-burning candle, a few moments later with the newspaper in one hand and the candle still burning in the other, the young man began to roam the streets, not knowing that his soul had been kidnapped and remained stuck in that place where he had bent down for that newspaper, meant to distract our young man's attention. While he is leaving, the darkness will settle in that place, and shortly after, a bolt of lightning from the sky illuminates the streets, the light that makes it possible to see the imprisoned and frightened soul of our young man. The story does not end here, it continues, but I think I will write the continuation in the 2nd part.
