I have often thought that instead of potentially exporting our natural resources, we should be exporting our technology (for a pricewink )

But for good reason...a win win for both countries. The buyer gains the technology and eventual energy independence and we reserve our own....well........reservesgrin

Ah Chris Greek default is mere chicken feed, try looking through the eyes of mums and dads investor's view while learning about margin calls in china:

The plunge in Chinese equities over the past three weeks have reached close to $3 trillion in market value, about 10 times Greece's gross domestic product last year – and nearly double Australia's

Investors have poured into the market, opening 33 million new brokerage accounts between the start of January and the end of May. According to Macquarie Research, Chinese margin debt has risen 123% year-to-date, reaching a new record of 2.3 trillion yuan ($370 billion) on June 18.

People were freaking out that Greece was defaulting on a $1.72 billion loan payment. Just wait for the margin call on the $370 billion margin debt in China's stock markets should Beijing decide to take a page from Saudi Arabia's oil book.

OPEC nations’ revenue from petroleum exports plunged below $1 trillion last year for the first time since 2010, highlighting how slumping crude prices hurt countries reliant on oil sales to fund their economies.

The group’s 12 members earned $993.3 billion in 2014, a decrease of 11 percent from a year earlier, according to the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries’ annual report published Tuesday. Their combined current account balance slumped by 35 percent to $273.6 billion as the drop in exports was accompanied by an increase in imports.

felixis,,wave Though i clearly acknowlege your adavnce technology, but such technology cannot be adopted in France after a long and thorough research made, conclusions might vary on the geographical situation, US is vast not like France, and besides partisants of the ECOLOGY PARTY has a wieght in the political compossition here. France is trying to be a less polluer as we can.
About reserving your oil reserves ,,, yes, that's right,, the moment all the wells in the world is exhausted, US could exploit it's reserves and we can imagine how much it could bring to USA. that's wise ,, but I think reserves are not infini, as consumption overuled the production,, alternatives should be exploited, clean energy for the good of the environment too. handshake

rob,, alternative source of energy might be one of the contributory factor ,, or just that conciousness starts influencing some minds.

Maybe Greece has started, some kind of defiance, which might spread to other EU countries, against the Bureaucrats of the EU.

With respect to your opinion,, this issue is in the hands of the member nations involved in the negotiation,, France nor Germany couldn't roll out the opinions of the 18 members of the euro zone,, i though hope a reasonable results can be attained ,,,

rob,, alternative source of energy might be one of the contributory factor ,, or just that conciousness starts influencing some minds.

My understanding the OPEC members increased output to reduce the price of a barrel of oil to force the international price below the american exploration costs as america had increased exploration of hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking”, is the process of drilling and injecting fluid into the ground at a high pressure in order to fracture shale rocks to release natural gas inside. There are more than 500,000 active natural gas wells in the US.

So there has been an ongoing oil price war sustained by OPEC states lowing the price of oil, in addition to other economic issues like Greece and China
