annaroach: Yes English is my first language, it is taught in the schools, and i hope it will continue, it is after all part of our heritage.
Spoken in certain parts of the country still, as their first language, especially around the west of Ireland.
Learning it again myself as i have forgotten a lot of it, but my hope is to be fluent at it.
I'm from Greek parentage & although I was born in England, I'm as fluent in Greek as I am English & that's down to my parents , who insisted on me attending Greek school , although it wasn't appreciated at the time.
For me it's the accent. It sends shivers right down to my spine and my heart melts away. I could listen to it for hours...even if I don't understand. It's like an opera sung in Italian. I find it very melodious.

I think that is great, and you are lucky that they did that for you.
having a few languages is wonderful, i hope to learn a language soon, maybe french or Spanish
