On the fleas on the back of rats...

Isn't it strange how a collection of CS members have joined in a 'clique of maturity' going around making negative comments about other members they dislike.
The beginning... A text message from a friend told me about Connecting Singles and invited me to join. The site we were on had closed.
I was greeted with comments of "We don't want your ilk around here" in reference to the site that closed.
How strange.. What ilk? I'm a newbie to an unfriendly site.
Why? You don't know me, how did I instantly qualify to be ilk?
I'm thinking, where did the few hundred of the other members go?

Greeted by:
Agentbob, Willy, dong, UnFayzed, JimNastics, bluewind37, texasgirl8585, korn, xquseme and a handful more who's names I cannot recall.

They were here weeks, possibly months before I arrived!

Got it... the 'ilk' title came from their appearance that changed the happy blogland that one was prior to them joining.

Going to other blogs and openly making negative comments to them or about other members you dislike is pretty low. Maybe gossip is important in your lives.

If you repeat a lie about someone enough, others will tend to believe you.

The quote "On the fleas on the back of rats" wasn't mine. It was said by another member and directed at me.

I disliked the Christian preaching and the onslaught of Trump praising but I cannot say that everyone (at the old site) was responsible for that...

Blog on...

Augustus de Morgan (he of de Morgan's law) paraphrasing Swift:
Great fleas have little fleas upon their backs to bite 'em,
And little fleas have lesser fleas, and so ad infinitum.
And the great fleas themselves, in turn, have greater fleas to go on;
While these again have greater still, and greater still, and so on.
(from: A Budget of Paradoxes.)
Bob Dylan talked about it in this song.....

What if they were sleeper fleas hoping around with pink wigs on?wine
I would just ignore it Chat...generally, when people talk about others, they are in some way jealous of them...It is their own insecurities that make them talk about others.

As for DH closing...it was a free-for-all in the last few months...pretty much unmonitored...

I hung out in the 50s group...I was too young then, to see in the 60s...And, in that group was where most of the music was posted...

In my opinion, the format of that site was much better...Age groups, a place for just politics, a place for sports, etc....and, if it was not on topic, it was moved to the correct area.

Anyways...life is way to short to try to get along with those who do not want to get along...

Just let it go.
Hey Chat,

I rarely log in here but I like reading your blogs.
I think many resented the political and religious blogs that swamped the blogland when members from another site joined here.

I don't think it was personal but the way the new members bonded together and turned this place into a political blogland did not sit well with many bloggers who were here to escape the seriousness of life and just to hang out and have fun interactions with other fun bloggers here, me included.sigh

I think the first sign posted was " Anyone here from MD?" or something like that laugh

It was years ago, every blog posted here counts and keeps the place going so blog on.thumbs up
gone.. always good advice from you. Thanks!
Crazyheart, thanks for the comment.
Less than 10% of my blogs are political and they often get the best response. So having people complain about political blogs makes no sense if that's what they comment on.

I'll say it again, I blog on lots of different topics and since they are my blogs, I'm responsible for their content. Many are music, food, news, health, science or weather related. Getting comments isn't my goal. I do them because I enjoy it.

One current project is in a condo on the beach, I posted a cool ocean view photo and no one commented.

Father's Day greeting got one comment that disappeared.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame... no comments.

Food... Sticky Rice had a few comments that all but one disappeared.

A photo visualization of Anne Boleyn, the second wife of King Henry VIII of England, got no comments.

Right now, I'm seeing a high percentage of gossip and hate filled blogs by other members. I choose to avoid them and not give them the participation of what they are looking for. If other members complain about the blogs 'going to hell' yet continue to post blogs like that, by definition that makes them hypocrites.

I came here for fun and not to feud.

thumbs up
Informative Ch. I was on a 8 year vecation when this appeared.
If I could I'd bring back anyone still alive of the cs 11/12 class.
And I must say, I miss the pro trolls too laugh
Those who was harmless but entertaining as f.
Hey Suzzie,

Those were the days, it was fun when MD members joined CS, many of us here considered it as an invasion, there were mixed reactions, most were territorials because when MDers landed here, the first blogs they posted were looking for each otherlaugh

What I do not like is the flea coming on to blogs just to be an irritant because someone needs attention or is suffering from some psychological problems...

Fleas die eventually... giggle

Lou, this is why blogland is a fun place to be, just don't take the fleas seriouslylaugh

Now where's Johnny and Robertconversing
Almost like a boatload from Tunisia? rolling on the floor laughing lol

I have messaged Robert...he seems good...writing away...but had not seen johnny on the blogs as of late...ohhh the fleas...irritating but mostly harmless...or stupid...laugh

wine
I miss Rob's short stories and music and Johnny's women bashing blogslaugh
I don't consider fleas harmless but I guess blog fleas are different, they exist to bring thrill and excitement to the blogs which is cool, we just need to be thick-skinned when we are blogging...all these years here we should be able to go with flow and know how to handle them when they get out of linelaugh
I enjoyed Robert's stories and the accompanying music to set the tone...Johnny is still blogging about women...laugh no change there...

I have a thick skin...most of the comments are laughable but this particular "flea" needs an attitude adjustment or a swat!!

Things here haven't changed much...blah

Although we have lost our resident blogger who loves Trump and his faith...sad flower

When someone passes it is always sad and a time for reflection...wine
I always thought Robert and Johnny where the same blogger with long-winded discussions about nothing ...

Often with them both vanishing often at the same time adding to my belief ??
