What habits can lead to significant increase in lifespan?

The data used for this study was collected between 2011 and 2019. It featured U.S. veterans between the ages of 40 and 99. Over 30,000 participants died during the follow-up.
The study found that men who have adopted all eight habits at the age of 40 would be predicted to live 24 years longer, on average, than men who adopted none of these habits. Women who have adopted all eight habits by age 40 would live 23 years longer on average compared to those who adopted none.

The eight identified habits are:

* being physically active
* not smoking
* managing stress
* maintaining a good diet
* not regularly drinking alcohol excessively
* maintaining good sleep hygiene
* maintaining positive social relationships
* not developing an opioid addiction

Smoking helps people who have smoked their whole lives, most people i see that have given up da cigs for their health normally die with in a year of given up da cigs..
Smoking is an energy for some people like coffee is energy for some, why give it up towards the end of your life dunno enjoy it while you still can...
Old habits die hard, just as important as dying happy and not wanting.. Smoke em...
How you determine when is your “end of life”???confused
End of life is when I draw my last breath
I know of a person that really followed all of the above mentioned rules. She was ran over by a Taxi on the sidewalk when the driver was looking for a station on the radio and lost control. She was 37, healthy as a new born baby.
OK, it was unpredictable accident. If she had no accident most likely she reached 100 or so.
I just believe every human has a specific time for them to call it a day. Some call it luck other call it longevity. Ive known healthy chain smokers of 78 and youngster of 28 dying of this or that. Must admit I have had tremendous 'luck' thus far but would still prefer that my line be drawn in my sleep or a very sudden demise. I wont change my habits etc just for an extra 10 or so years. I quit smoking years ago just because everyone told me I couldn't. I still eat junk food. I don't use alcohol excessively as that can cause headaches unheard of.
Ive had an active life and Ihope that helps extend my time by a year or solaugh
I happen to agree with you about the smoking, though I only tried cigarettes once . I smoke an occasional pipe (black Cavendish called Captain Black). The quality of life is far more important than the quantity.
Thing is, science already made time a dimension (if not more than one). That means we're all immortal, like it or not. The quality of the days we add to the conglomerate we already have is more important that the expanse we create.
