When a man hints a lot about getting married ..........but does not ask.........is it ok for the woman to say"are you asking me to marry you"?????????

Why shouldn't the women do the asking? It's 2011 after all,not 1950.

It sounds like he is feeling you out trying to see how you would feel about marriage by talking about it.So how do you feel about it? Maybe think about that for awhile before having a serious discussion with him.

Well, at least he knows now I'm ready and very keen to marry him.
I'll wait until he's going to ask me the big question - I'll keep the dress on though as a remainder.
After all, having a man with the "M" word in his vocabulary AND using it to hint seems already a blessing and I feel from there on it's all a matter of time until he'll ask. Well, that's at least what I'll keep telling myself from now on

maybe they're just teaching us a lesson about patient and timing?!

I personally don't like hinting men. If he has something important to tell me he has to do it like a real man. If he hints about marriage I take it as he wants to shift the responsibility on me. JMO

Why do you have to get married? You can live happily together without marriage, and the second you are official married, the problems start.. In scandinavia, almost 53% get divorced after a few years...

I think it's perfectly fine for the woman to ask for clarification. Not every guy is courageous enough to ask. That doesn't make him a bad guy, just a shy one. With the one I like on the other site, I might very well say something like, "Would be upset with me if I fell in love with you?" Her response will be quite revealing. And the second question would be, "Will you teach me how to get acquainted with you?"
