Lord of the Flies - Revisited, inspired by the rec
And the ongoing animosity between the blogging community, which shows no sign of abating!Ok, I also wanted to see if I could still write a decent blog
Here goes....
Lord of the Flies is a novel (pub 1954) by Nobel Prize winning English author William Golding about a group of British boys stuck on an uninhabited island who try to govern themselves, with disastrous results. Incidentally it was also my high school English set-work, way, way back!
The boys at first, try to recreate the life, they had always know - that of order & civilization and elect Ralph to lead them forward in that direction.
However anarchy soon creeps in & rears its ugly head with disastrous consequences........
Jack, together with his band of mutinous rebels, usurps power from Ralph & within weeks, leads the group into an ever downhill spiral of antagonism, cruelty, savagery, bestiality and eventually culminates in the death/murder of two boys!
Contd......

Stony ~ interesting read, hey? Wouldn't want to be part of that experiment...
Rummy ~ is it safe to call you Rummy (old habits die hard)?
To me it is about the very thin facade we call decency, law and order and how easy it could be lost.
