Excitement fills the air

and it is very difficult to stay in the moment as my thoughts and imaginings have already flown from here to NYC and back! I need to focus qa little and do the next right things: organize the apartment; lay down a couple of voice tracks for the promos to run this week; decide on what to pack; pre-cook a week's worth of meals for my mother (she lives downstairs and hates to cook);but oh I'm going to NY! There are bookstores full of books that are current, shoe stores with variety and more than two cinemas (which both show the same films at the same time).

Barbados is a paradise in its way, it was a great place to grow up and go to school, but once you are grown there are - as with everywhere - disadvantages. I don't particularly like going to the beach, there's all this sand there; I am no longer an aquatic mammal (if ever I was) and am not that fond of swimming, neither do I want to watch polo on a Sunday. I like to be able to walk for miles without jumping into ditches to avoid the traffic (no pavements or sidewalks) I like to sit and have a cup of coffee that doesn't cost the equivalent of a four course meal(that is an exaggeration, but you know what I mean) and I like to be able to shop late and shop on any day of the week.

Here everybody knows where you have been because they recognize your car number after a couple of weeks. Yes really!

And I miss the bookstores and 100% cotton T shirts that don't have Barbados written all over them. I know where I live and I prefer not to dress like a tourist! So while I love Barbados, I do see the advantages of being able to leave occasionally.
