A picture

Being busy is a good thing, Not making money but still working not so great.
I had become stuck in a bit of a Creative rut. just repetitively plodding along.
A Friend From CS Got talking to me about how they missed Ireland and how she had seen the most beautiful moon from the Dart (train) as it took her to her destination. I mentioned that I had a photo somewhere I had taken from the Dart, and that I would post it to her. I got my storage drive out and searched my catalog. I was taken aback when I looked at the photo and It seemed every bit of dirt and scratch from the carriage Window had wanted 5 minutes fame from my lens. The day was not as sunny as I remembered it either. in fact as I recalled from my viewing of the picture The day was very Irish. Dry but with the eternal overcast promise of some rain.
What to Do. ! this picture was nowhere near nice enough to qualify for the ambassadorial role of Irish beauty my friend and I so fondly spoke of. I decided to patch up the picture and see what I could come up with. My friend seemed quite pleased and has said it brings back fond memories and that others feel the same way too.
I would like to say Thank you to my friend for inspiring me to look up and work on this old pic. and at the same time share this view from the Dart of Killiney Bay Dublin. If you ever get to Ireland. You should take the trip from Dublin City to Greystones its well worth it for the views alone. wine

10 euros to develop a roll now Mike wow.
I spent all my money growing up on Film development.
At least you used to get a free roll back with your prints, dunno
Do they still do that. ?
ACTUALLY WE WERE IN WATERFORD THEY DID AN AMAZING SHOW applause
Hi nonsmoker,

It just so happens I have been doing a little cartography tonight, rather than practicing my writing, and your photo has inspired me. I am actually working on coast line using Campaign Cartographer 3 (if you know of it - great software!) and this is my first map. So the learning curve I am going through now is frustrating and, as I toil, I feel like I will end up filing this exercise under "G" in the circular file. Nice bit of serendity to come here for a break and find your photo.

Talk about good timing!
i must say, one of a good time to take pictures in ireland, is when some mountains get covered in yellow dust, due to some flowers, i cannot remember where i saw this exactly, but it was between galway and sligo. i did that trip few times using back roads with my car.
Pity i did not have a camera then.
i had to stop to admire the colours.
i must say some back roads leading to sligo from galway were a rare sight as well.(not to put in the same category as the mountains) then i did prefer to drive fast and not to stop.
yes that yellow dust, colour, seems to be the irish gold
going well with the grass, two different tones of green
the harsh one and the soft one, and of course the muttons
you call them sheeps in france we call them mutton add to the scenery, the big stones are also part of the scenery and the edges
as trees i like the pines because of the smell they give away
and the other one, i do not remember the name, the one with branches falling down and giving yellow flowers
is it the weeping tree, yes i like these trees
otherwise the other colour that does prevail in ireland is orange for the road signs

THAT IS HOW I SEE IRELAND

aRrAe,
Glad to have helped if you could call it that handshake
I never heard of that software. I do love looking at maps but don't think I would make one. Quite time consuming I imagine.
Does it have 3d viewing thumbs up
Non, handshake

a dull pic can not change good memories, as the best picture does not repaint a bad memory...

"There is no exquisite beauty… without some strangeness in the proportion.” ? Edgar Allan Poe

By the way, nice pic.. cheers
few years ago, i did spend one month on my own in dundrum, near sligo, the cemetery there is quite a sight
and the village as well only one street
i must admit that i was scare at night
being on my own in a big house
yes ireland, the wind scares me
first day, i arrived here, i cried, because of the wind
i was scared
i got caught, last year,in the mini storm, wind and rain storm
then i was crying also
and when i use the promenade in galway, sometimes, when it is windy, you hear sound hovelling from the sky, that do resemble human
laughter, woman laughter, and crying like singing almost
THAT IS IRELAND AGAIN
and no i do not take medication and i do not hear voices
and i was not drunk either
that sound on the way to the promenade reminds you that you are only human that you are alive but also mortal
so that sound makes me cry and laugth at the same time as well
YES IRELAND YOU SCARE ME SOMETIMES
YOU MAKE ME WANT GO ON MY KNEES FROM TIME TO TIME

THAT IS THE WAY I FEEL
Here is my co-pilot:

I am a long way from done so I won’t post what I got.
This has the whole she-bang. I hope so for 400 quid! It was my retirement gift some of the members of the association gave me. Writing requires me to have a map and this software is the easiest thing. Creating the land in my head is hard.

I am not that organi-sized
Bogart,

The light in Ireland is different from the light anywhere else, which is why so many artists come to live here. Once you put down roots in this country, it will always draw you in. I couldn't live anywhere else.
