DAY 1 : STREET FOODS OF INDIA

I always believe, if you really want to listen to the heartbeats of the country you will be travelling, you should begin with street foods. As for me - i would be trying out chin chin in africa and bing in china, shawarma in europe and pretzel in usa, the list is pretty big.

1. Phuchka ( also known as golgappa and pani puri )

You are a very cruel young man showing these pictures of Indian food. I love curries and there isn't a 'Take-away' near me.
I am now salivating and there is nothing I can do about it!!
Aj

I agree with you. food is culture also. when traveling, nothing better than trying local street foods, as it gives you the reality of a country....

Thanks !!
Ajka!
You make me hungry and no Indian restaurant is open yet! I worked with Indian environment company for some years so some of the food I am familiar with, and I love Indian food. Thank you for sharing.
oops that is copal.my favorites are vetiver from adrica and nag champa
They all look splendidly yummy.

I'm a simple man with simple tastes when in India, and I find it hard to go past a Masala Dosa or a good Thali.(read cheap)
The only good Pretzels in America are the salted ones sold by street vendors in downtown Manhattan. However, while you in front of one of those carts, please also try their Knish (a kind of mashed potato pancake) and also maybe a NY Hotdog and don't forget to hit a pizza parlor for a slice of NYC pizza. :)
Mmmmm... Ajka, you delicious little phuchka! You make me glad I do not live close to a town with your cuisine. I would be out erranding NOW!

Yes, tasting is "knowing". (Slurp!) grin My favorite is Tai food though. Thank you for NOT blindsiding me with panang shrimp! wine

that's so sweet of you. you could prepare davidoff's fine aroma ( i'm a loyal fan ) and bring some chicken sausages and pork sandwiches without any guilt - i'm non-veg.

try dosa plaza - the pan-Indian dosa chain which offers ninety-nine varieties of lip-smacking dosas.
