DAY 2 : MASS RAPID TRANSIT IN INDIA

1. Underground railway : METRO rail network is available in delhi, bengaluru ( ex-bangalore ), gurgaon and kolkata ( ex-calcutta ) - the last one being the first Indian city to offer this. You could simply take the metro from the airport. Quite a few coaches of the metro are wheelchair-accessible. And you should not forget to visit the metro museum at patel chowk in new delhi.

Metro projects in execution : mumbai ( ex-bombay ), chennai ( ex-madras ), kochi and hyderabad. Another fourteen cities will commence the construction works soon.

2. Skytrain ie elevated rail system : Mumbai.

3. Tram : The low-floor swanky trams in kolkata are widely used by elderly people and the kids. They will be transformed into skybus ie light rail transit soon.

4. Bus : Low-floor green ( euro III / IV compliant ) vehicles fitted with ergonomic cushy seats and ABS, popularly known as JNNURM buses, are available in both AC and non-AC avatars in thirty four Indian cities - delhi, mumbai, ahmedabad, bengaluru, chennai, kolkata, hyderabad, kochi, faridabad, bhopal, ludhiana, jaipur, lucknow, madurai, nasik, pune, coimbatore, patna, varanasi, agra, amritsar, visakhapatnam, vadodara, surat, kanpur, nagpur, meerut, jabalpur, jamshedpur, asansol, allahabad, vijaywada, rajkot, dhanbad, indore, trivandrum, guwahati, itanagar, jammu, and raipur. Wheelchair-friendly buses are available in select Indian cities like chennai. AC volvo service are also operated by state governments. For instance - if you need an air-conditioned ride in kolkata, look for the WBSTC digital logo ( led matrix ) in the windscreen / windshield, or spot a JNNURM bus with closed doors. And if you want to ride a fuel-cell vehicle, then you must come to delhi! Perhaps the first hydrogen-powered public bus in asia, TATA and ISRO jointly developed the STARBUS, and the successful trials have just finished. BRTs can be found in ahmedabad, pune, delhi, jaipur, mumbai, and indore. The bus rapid transits are under construction in rajkot, surat, and kolkata.

Good to see some "evolution" (maybe we can say that). t has been a long time since I went there. It is in my future plans, to revisit (Dwarka, Vijaya Nagara, etc)

that's a decade ago. a lot has changed since then. some places of mumbai look like manhattan and bengaluru is gradually becoming the palo alto.
Aj, I dont want to major cities.... they are alike,

I like history (and archeology), so my objectives are visiting the old India...soon.

i spent some time there for my internship. it's a lovely and equally costly city to live - as expensive as any city in CA. technically speaking, san francisco and bengaluru are sister cities.
