DATING or SOCIAL SITE
This is an open blog seeking thoughts and opinions about what CS is really all about. It is advertised as a dating site with many other features.
But I ask, isn’t it really just a social site with some dating features.
Just as Facebook and Twitter are social sites. There has been success in some from those sites getting together and dating, even getting married.
Let’s break down what makes a social site.
A social site is a place where people can meet and make friends through communication over the World Wide Web. Where games, puzzles, communication publicly or privately, a collection of members that can interact in so many different ways, A place where people can meet and share life experiences and make new friends as well as catch up with friends they haven’t seen for a while, Somewhere they can post pictures and tell stories, tall and true, A place where people can interact on a daily basis. Isn’t this CS?
What is so different between CS and Facebook, Twitter, even LinkedIn or any other social networking site?
Should we just consider CS a dating site that offers more than other dating sites, or should we view it as a Social Site that offers more than other Social Sites?
Advertisers are equally important to both Social Sites and Dating Sites, or do advertisers pay more because a site specialises in Social networking or Dating?
How many Dating sites allow debate about various topics such as Capital Punishment, Religion, Same sex marriages and so forth? Yet social sites encourage this type of interaction.
How many Dating sites have extras such as a poets corner, forums, blogs, face puzzles, photo ratings and so on? Yet Social sites have all these.
I could go on and on and on, but I really would like all those out there in CS land to give me their view/opinion.
WHAT DO YOU THINK CS IS REALLY ALL ABOUT?
I may not be able to quickly respond to all comments, but i would really appreciate as much feedback as possible.
I will be back to add my thoughts a little later.
Thanking you all in advance.

I do have to admit i have missed blogging. May get more involve.
some Aussies are players. But not me.
and yes i was played by a women from the USA
but all is good now.
Linkedin is not a social network site, it offers limited options along these lines for financial reasons.
Facebook (Yuk!) and Twitter are pure interactive social media sites. The first is designed primarilly for families and friends to keep in touch, the second essentially is a public forum for expressing any subject.
all is good thank you.
Concentrating on having fun now.
i enjoy every moment with them.
I trust all is well with you and that you are enjoying life.
whilst what you say is basically correct, the fact that CS does have many other features found on social sites must allow one too compare. As most have said they first came here because it was a dating site but ended up using it as a social site.
I guess my question revolves around
if it was advertised as a social site, would it attract the sponsorship dollars?
Advertisers might think facebook offered better value for dollar. Hence if CS calls itself a dating site with social features it would bring in more advertising dollars.
After all if it's as you say the advertising dilates that allow this to remain a free site.
Are CS getting those dollars under false pretentions
either way i guess it is what it is.
It should read
advertising dollars. Sorry.
Your comment regarding people joining CS to find a partner then ending up as a social member is the basis as to why CS is the success it is. For this reason the answer is “no” the dollars are not being obtained under false pretensions as a greater part of the membership is active compared to other dating sites.
Undoubtedly CS would attract better sponsorship if it advertised itself as a social media site that had a dating facility, then again it wouldn’t be primarily a dating site and fewer people would join (rock and hard place scenario). Along these lines I would not be surprised if at some point someone like FB will introduce a form of “get to know” capability that emulates a dating site without actually being a dating site.
i agree with what you have written.
As for Facebook and a getting to know you type feature, doesn't Facebook have a dating feature called zoosk or something along those lines.
And the Fact that this story has been Stuck on Comment 69 for the longest Time
I figured id come to the rescue and get it off that number and on to Number 70......................
yes both pof eharomny have forums, they do not have the mixture that CS has.
As always you come along and put forward a thought provoking idea.
If CS have created this site to make a statement then what is that statement. I guess some of us may think we know, only the owners of this site know the real answer.
Compared to Facebook this site is better in regards to the quickness of it, but like most free sites it has its downfalls as well.
Still it pleases many people and i guess that's the main thing.
Thank you for your observation.
And thank you for bringing it to my attention. Due to time zones i was tucked up like a bunny in a blanket.
Zman, my Facebook opens much quicker on my phone than computer.
Have a great weekend all CS members!
