Why failure can be good and in some cases great...

I dedicate this blog to a friend.

We all fail at something in our life, but how many times does that short term pain turn into long term gain? The answer is more times than you could imagine.....take a lookwow

Oprah Winfrey was fired from WJZ-TV for being too "emotionally involved" with the stories she reported. She has since gone on to be one of the most famous and rich personalities in the worlddoh

Vincent Van Gogh only sold ONE painting out of 900 in his lifewow

Lady Gaga got dropped by a major record label after only 3 monthsdrinking

Steven Spielberg was denied by USC'S prestigious film school not once but twiceuh oh

Michael Jordon was rejected from his high school varsity basketball teambarf

Dr. Seuss first childrens book And to think I saw it on Mulberry Street was refused by 27 publishersthumbs down

Ang Lee failed Taiwan's college exam TWICE.....THIS ONE'S FOR MY FRIEND
frustrated

All these people went on to achieve great success in their lives because they believed in themselves and were persistent in their pathsthumbs up

When you get a 90 on an exam and you got one wrong isn't that the one you always remember?

Anyone have any similar experiences?

I have never been a failure, I have never been famous, but I have been rich.
Ah sol, are you not still rich?!! I never would have flirted with you yesterday if I'd known that!!rolling on the floor laughing
Hi sol......go for it....

sorry couldn't resist..cheers
My only failure in my life was trying to be friends and get along with my former sister in law.

She was a very controlling, manipulative person. She had even admitted in an email to my late husband that she was jealous of me too.

I have not had any contact with her since 2006 which was over 8 yrs ago.

I just consider it her lose.
Hi CC, there are times in life when one has to remove themselves from their current environment, looks like you made that decision with no looking back....kudos to youapplause
I think sol has run back to the jungle sands! I must be too much woman for him!!elephant rolling on the floor laughing
ha! PAC, and you thought Sol was going to be a piece of cake...rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
That Dr Seuss legend is persistent, also that he self-published. Actually I was told he was commissioned to write a book using only 600 words. But that may also be urban myth.

For sure, giving up guarantees failure. If you set your sights at something you can achieve, you are aiming too low ... lots of motivational stuff out there.

The saddest thing in life is to achieve your life's ambition, because then you have no goal.

The second saddest thing is never to achieve it.

Rock and a hard place, eh?
Correction: 'He was not being disrespectful'

Anyway, sorry Sands, for the above long comment. Feel free to delete it after awhile. wine
hi Biff, along your lines I enjoy trying to achieve my goals and I do think what will happen if I do????? that's the scary part, for now it's work in progress.....and that's a good thing.....grin
DC, I will not delete without the authors written consent. Please send all requests to: Connecting Singles/care of Sands88....grin
DC, there was nothing wrong with your posts! Very heartfelt words.

When we focus on achieving a goal and finally achieve it, lo and behold, another challenge is presented! It's what keeps life interesting and our spirits youthful.
Oh btw Sands, this weekend the kids would be having some leftovers I'm bringing back from the restaurant where I'm working!! Fuss-free for me and the kids would be thankful that they are not eating Mommy's lousy cooking!!! laugh
Like I said DC, you did all you could for them and you have nothing to feel guilty about. It is not your fault that your husband was an alcoholic. bouquet
DC....I understand you wishing to give your children all the things you can, but I've seen those types of kids and they grow up to be inconsiderate demanding and irresponsibe. So, believe it or not you are in an envious situation, your children will grow up with respect and understanding of the world at large......may have been unintentional, but good job nonetheless.....applause
Thanks Lucy hug bouquet

You know what is even stranger? I don't feel as though I own them.... I actually can't wait for them to be out in this world and find their path and way around it. Can't also wait for them to discover and explore new things, new places, new horizon......things that I never really get the chance to do wink
Ok, I think I've hogged Sands' blog for far too long and it has now almost become my own blog, wayyyyyy out of the original topic!! uh oh laugh

Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement, thank you hug teddybear bouquet

I tend to do that, talking non-stop, that is!! doh laugh grin
Failed many a times Sand, but life is a book of failures and a little bit of success. Statistics show 80 percent of the total world's population are in that level, where I belong, and the rest are the over achievers.

Just because we fail doesn't mean giving up like our friend Luke said. .
Think I am basically a successful failure but it does not bother me one bit. I am happy when I do usefull things even when I don't do it very well.
ek, sometimes that's all that matters, that sense of accomplishment. And your getting many opportunities now to experience it live.....on the top of the mountain.......banana cheering applause
Hi LJ yes totally agree, failure gives us the opportunity to succeed...if we so wish...cheers
Sands,

If things don't turn out the way I want it to be, I don't see it as my "failure"

I believe if it's meant to be it will be. Things happen for a reason, no matter how hard you try if it's not meant to be then it's not going to happen, you just have to keep going.

I see my whole life as one big package...filled with fun, happiness, bliss, achievements, disappointments, sadness, frustrations, etc...all in one nicely wrapped package with pretty ribbons.wine
Hi ch, what color ribbons? Do they have ruffles?grin
Sands,

Red with White and Black and some ruffles....some are laceyyay
I once did an exam, it contained 100 questions, I got one wrong

and you are so right, If I took that exam again it would probably the only one I get correct. laugh

Great examples of bouncing back, Inspirational beer
Dream im Proud of you, and the children also, a Good mom I say!hug kiss
Hi non....isn't that funny how that works...maybe just human nature and we are more focused on the negative then the positive....because pain hurts more????cheers
Sands,
I must try fail more often !

See Im inspired by your blog laugh
Good blog sands. It just goes to show how many people are hurting out there. All the more reason to be careful how we treat people on the blogs. Respect!!peace
non- you've already succeeded your a non-smoker.....applause laugh
PAC, yes indeed, there are many people who are down at the moment, but life is a circle....here's a man who I adored, may God rest his soul...Harry spent a lot of his time and money helping the hungry world wide.....
dancing
Wow, that's a blast from the past! I remember that song well. I used to play it on guitar years and years ago. I am a real folkie!!peace
PAC, i remember my son singing it as we were driving in the car.....that was like 1992/3. Haven't heard it years, Harry died way to young...my favorite songs were Taxi and Taxi 2....cheers
You have me listening to all the old songs now. I will be up all night!!head banger peace
same here, taxi 1 &2 I met Harry a couple of times and not a finer human being....he died at the age of 39 in a car accident on the way to a free concert..he had cardiac arrest....
A lot of the greats died young but isn't it wonderful that you got to meet Harry. Jim Croce is another I like who died very young in a plane crash.
Meant to say, Jim Croce's song - Time in a bottle - is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.
yes, it was...I was working in NY city at the time and I my friend knew Harry's brother Tom, so right place right time.......Yes, the is a nice song by Croce like you said another young man 30 years old.....
Must go now. Goodnight sands. Keep on blogging!!peace
PAC, good day ......and gnite
