I dont know how she manages to live without her daughter.
They both look happy.
Thank you for starting my day in tears of joy.
People think that doing a good deed is about money, Is not
I was in a shop trying to think of what to cook for dinner, there was this young disabled (mentally and physically) boy (his mom must had just popped off for something) in a wheelchair so I asked for his advice, we had a chat and a laugh and I thanked him for his help and wisdom and off I went.... Later on in the car park a woman came up to me and to my surprise gave me a hug, and then with tears in her eyes she told me that people (strangers) never...ever speak and even avoid making eye contact with her son, so the fact that I not only spoke to him but asked for his advice, this meant the world to mom and son. It was not a good deed to me just something I do without thinking... But that day I was someones Hero....and it felt good
Last year our team lost an employee out or our chemical factory, he was a QC manager, he was a 40 yr old Filipino who had died in his sleep.
He left a wife and 3 kids back home, his wife had lost everything, meant she had to leave her home and take the kids from the school.
However my brother, who is the GM of this company, told her not to make any rash decisions. My brother flew back to the Phillipines last August with the body..Presented her with a cheque to cover her house expenses for that year from the company, and my brother now pays for her kids schooling until they are 18, and when the Sheiks heard what my brother had done, they equalled the amount.
So she does not have to worry about being homeless or her kids leaving school...however there are still so many that do not have this fortune..help where you can..even a small thing make these people happy.
What a good story...a very happy ending...cheers to you and others for helping out...
The mum and daughter look so happy.
Only thing Ian you cannot compare another country how they live to ours. Poverty in that country is not same as our poverty.
I met someone once who was on exchange visit from so called poor country. He was amazed at houses, shops, traffic and all people he said huddled together on a street.
Traffic fumes got to him, the endless background chatter drove him mad, and he sleapt on floor not in nice soft bed. The water tasted foul he said. So he did thank us for visit and all wonderful things he saw but said he would be pleased to get back home to normal.
That being spring clean tasty water and so on and so on.
Still I do not mean to take away from you the smile you brought to mother and daughters face, better than lottery win that.
Like Red said, the world benefits from you and your brother's kindness. I haven't stopped doing it for my village Ian.
I don't know where you are, but Eva Air from the US, (San Francisco to Manila) is offering as low as $500.00 round trip with one stop over. My daughter's family is going there for a whole month. I have never seen such low as this. I normally prefer the straight flight but I don't mind this cheap.
