If you get another dog, you are not replacing him. Like children, each one is loved differently for different reasons. A new dog would not be a replacement, but a different animal altogether, with a different personality. I know, I lost mine almost two years ago to bone cancer. To me she was family....also a rescue. I had her for 10 years and since she was 5 weeks old and separated from mum way too early...if I could afford another dog right now, I certainly would...but to make such an investment on my current salary just isn't logical. But at any rate...if it bothers you to get another, maybe you're just not ready yet to go in that direction ....hope this helps comfort
No more dogs.
Thank you, and sorry to hear of your loss, I can afford, it, just still dont think Im ready but really want one,.....Dont make any sense really,.................wave
How come Pro,...........????????????/
Lol

I'm just dropping a line.
Makes perfect sense....you miss your lost family member.....but, to say that you do want another is a step in the right direction, all part of the process. You will probably end up getting one...just not yet. Eventually you will be ready, ...just takes time wink
Enigma, it was nothing to do with losing my gran, that was unfortunately coincident, Im just an animal lover, especially dogs, put my boy down six years ago,..........................

Hey sv

Hiya

history always confuses us!

Do as what you wanna do at the moment!
Scotty, i had to put my lab down and shortly after adopted a mut. i need a pal to keep me company that never has a mean word to say to me. now i got a pal for him to keep him company while i'm working. if i didn't have pets i think i wouldn't be as affectionate or sensitive.
Scotty I'm a bit confused. I thought you had a rottie? confused
wave put the ashes away if it makes you sad, Scotty.
One day that want will become a realityroll eyes I want a toffee apple I drool but know my teeth would rotgrin

sorry Scoty do not mean to make fun but I hear my gran on my shoulder saying what one wants never gets roll eyes

It has to be more than a wim a sad feeling it has to be a go get one feeling hug
Hi Scotty wave Seems you're in doubt. I adore animals, both Cats and Dogs, have had animals all my life
The only thing I would say is, Dogs are so territorial about their owners and there could be 'trouble' if another newer version comes along... gets abit more attention.

Unless you have loads of time on your hands, I think one dog is enough when you are out and about,, unless there is somebody there all the time so they arenot left for long periods of time.

Having said that, the Shelters and pounds are full of abandoned, unloved dogs, just crying out for love and a good home... so you should speak with the experts.

Get a rescue dog if you do , as they will love you back a thousand fold. dancing dog teddy
P.S. blushing Gawd so sorry !!! It's early for me , I didnot read your blog properly.... sorry about your beloved Dog. Keeping the ashes, I think, is nice, [I've done it] it is not said but means you havenot forgotten, just like a photo.

I would say now, definitely go get another dog. If you can be in the house so it is not left alone for long periods, and walk and give it the love it needs... go get...

If it is the right time, your heart will tell you, but please, [since I do some voluntary work with Cats and Dogs] please, get a Rescue Dog, from Shelter, as they are abandoned, have known cruelty and are so so loving.gotta go dancing dog
When I said family member.....in that particular context, I was actually referring to your dog......they are indeed like family. Now with that in mind, maybe reread.....just trying to help uh oh wave
Enigma ~ I agree, some people keep the Dog out in the back garden, it's so sad, poor thing barking all day.
Plus the annoyed neighbours let it out on the poor dog. Dogs need to be part of a pack, a family and know where they stand in that pack [as you know] also Cats, they need affection, and give it back [contrary to what cat haters think ] but Dogs, yes, they are part of the family.

I really think, if I had the room, I would have a dog. Unconditional love. Scotty, get a dog... when you are ready.
I know I keep saying it , but a Rescue dog would need a little more attention and handling at first, having known cruelty, rejection, abandonment, but would more than make up for it with love and companionship. dancing dog
