SAVE ASIA BIBI - Resistance Int'l ~ UPDATE 5/08/19
The vid below presents the plight of Asia Bibi. She's lived in the shadow of a noose for seven years. It's not long; less than 11 minutes.
But for international attention & pressure brought upon the government, she would most probably have already been hanged.
This is an issue in which people can become involved.
A worldwide petition has been circulated demanding she not be executed, and released.
Involvement NOW by groups advocating for her life to be spared could prove decisive.
What may be her final hearing before the Supreme Court is upcoming this June.

Meanwhile, in the country that toppled the Soviet Empire...
Actually, that was a year BEFORE The Don made his Prez run & prevailed.
If anything remotely like that took place in Murka, PC Libs would be screaming 'hate speech/hate crime' to beat holy hell!
It would probably be a crime in Canada.
Sorry I thought you called me
Seriously and literally...
Good Night before I kill this blog too
Sorry y'all. That was meant for Joy's WalkAway blog.
Sadly, the issue is ongoing, pernicious and not exclusive to Asia & her family.
An excerpt from The Telegraph article cited in my comment above...
"Asia Bibi was the first woman sentenced to death for blasphemy, but the charge is not uncommon in Pakistan and most accused are Muslims. Since 2011 about 100 blasphemy cases have been registered. Around 40 people are awaiting the death sentence or serving life sentences."
Awful situation, so I went into Twitter last night n found Free Asia n I noticed that the poor girls don't have much support bcoz of the ' very different ' laws in their country, I did like n retweet n I just saw a post that shows a small rise of supports of likes n retweets in the post

I should imagine Asia's girls receive little support for the same reason Pakistani Muslims are reluctant to speak out about medieval blasphemy laws, Spc...

Pakistani Supreme Court refuses to reinstate the blasphemy charge against Asia!
After enduring a decade of not knowing is she would live or hang, she might now be allowed to leave Pakistan & join her family in Canada.

Kudos to the members of Pakistan's Supreme Court for having the courage to finally lay this to rest
Please keep praying for them they need you

"Asia Bibi, 54, is technically a 'free woman' – having had her death sentence for blasphemy thrown out by the Pakistani court – but she is far from safe enough to step foot in public, as religious extremists still call for her hanging.
A Pakistan official told Fox News Friday that – despite rampant rumors and reports indicating otherwise – Bibi remains under tight protection by authorities in Pakistan – as security steps to enable her to depart secretly are still being put in place.
A Canadian government source also told Fox News that reports Friday of Bibi having already arrived in Canada were false. Yet her exact whereabouts, believed to be in Pakistan, remains murky and shrouded in mixed messages.
“'The reality is that very, very few people know where she is and next to no one will be told when she leaves. Her family might not even be told beforehand,' another source close to Bibi’s relatives said. 'It has been done under extremism secrecy for her safety. It’s assumed that she will leave as soon as possible, but it isn’t that easy.'”

Again I say - I'll only believe it's over when her feet touch some piece of ground outside Pakistan

Wherever she goes, she should be given a new identity...perhaps including plastic surgery for a new face.
It's kinda a shame - her natural face is quite attractive.
Also, I'd not be surprised if she's 'killed' prior to receiving a new face/identity.
If she is not, every woman bearing a resemblance to her would do well to stay under a burka - and not for reasons of piety.

Aasia Bibi can't leave Pakistan despite acquittal
Christian woman cleared of blasphemy charges remains confined in Pakistan even though the government says she can leave.
09 Feb 2019 GMT+3
A Christian woman acquitted of blasphemy after spending eight years on death row in Pakistan has been transferred from a secret location near the capital to another in Karachi, but is still unable to leave the country to join her daughters in Canada, a friend said on Saturday.
Aman Ullah, who spoke to Aasia Bibi by telephone Friday, said the 54-year-old Bibi is being held in a room in the southern port city.
He said Bibi, who still faces death threats, is frustrated and frightened, uncertain of when she will be able to leave Pakistan.
"She has no indication of when she will leave ... they are not telling her why she cannot leave," said Ullah.
He fled the country on Friday after receiving threats from those angered by his assistance to Bibi, which began while she was on death row.
Ullah has been a liaison between Bibi and European diplomats, who have sought to assist her. The Associated Press news agency spoke to Bibi by telephone with Ullah's assistance following her October acquittal, which was upheld last month.
Bibi's ordeal began in 2009.
She was arrested after being accused of blasphemy following a quarrel with two female Muslim farm workers who refused to drink from a water container used by a Christian.
Locked In One Room Of A House -
The Supreme Court judges said there were widespread inconsistencies in the testimony against Bibi, who has steadfastly maintained her innocence.
The acquittal should have given Bibi her freedom, but Ullah said diplomats were told that her departure from Pakistan, where she feels her life would be in danger, would come not in the short term, but "in the medium term".
He said Bibi told him she is locked in one room of a house.
"The door opens at food time only," said Ullah, and she is allowed to make phone calls in the morning and again at night. He said she usually calls her daughters.
Bibi's husband is with her, he said.

She's 'wheels down' in Canada!!!
Kudos to Canada
The vid also provides a brief but thorough report of the entire affair and acknowledges the work of international rights groups (such as Resistance International) in saving her and finally obtaining her release from Pakistan.
I wish her and her reunited family well in their new home!!
