Homeless shelters, food pantries, soup lines, free medical care.....

Although, years ago, before help with childhood experiences, I briefy relied on these things, thank Goddess I have not again. Indeed, my volunteering is a lame attempt to give back some. But out of curiosity, I visited a soup line here one day last week. It was clean, efficiently run, staff were kind and friendly--- and the food was plentiful, wholesome and delicious. Guests enjoyed each other's company. A nurse was there to provide some screening and referals, and it all seemed like a positive social experience for all. There was free transportation for those needing it. It almost brought tears up to see this example of community caring and kindness. These places are in almost every town and city here iin the USA. I admire the U.S. for reaching out to it's people and their neighbors. The basics of life are food, clothing, shelter, health care and education and I applaud those agencies in the U.S. that made it possible for many.
We have a good amount here too Aa and yes at times we can feel guilty in our less imput to poorer folk.blues

idea solutions are coming to my mind grin
We have similar places here where people can go, eat, socialise and be made to feel human and worthy,

During the recession, people who had previously given generously to these places, suddenly found themselves in need of their help. Nobody, either in rags or a suit is turned away.
We too have soup kitchens, food banks.... I can t imagine the poor and homeless not having these services available. It is nice to see the generosity shown to these places, and it is also sad to just how many people use these services, a lot more than the public realizes.
Yes, 1. Well, my experience with Canada is that you are more socially oriented than most places. It's a good thing. Wonder if it varies much by provence, as things here sometimes do so by state. Aa.
