Gun Controllers Call For AR Ban. Meanwhile,
these remain under the radar. The Detachable Magazine (DM) Shotgun is relatively new to the market.
The 1st vid below features a Remington 870DM; Mossberg is bringing out their version.
The concept of the Duckbill Shot Spreader in the 2nd vid below has been around since Navy SEALs used 'em in 'Nam...
The shotguns use six round magazines.
Each 3" 12 gauge shell holds 41 .240 calber pellets.
So...
Six rounds × 41 pellets/round = 246 pellets/mag.
A six round magazine could be easily emptied in under ten seconds.
The shotgun could be reloaded with a fresh magazine in about a second, maybe two or three.
This process could be repeated as often as one has magazines with which to reload.
Let's do the math, shall we?
Yes. We shall......
Six magazines × six shells/mag × 41 pellets/shell...
That'd be roughly 1,500 .240 projectiles fired off PER MINUTE!!
I recently heard a program discussing gun control following the recent shooting in Florida.
It was a call-in program.
A law enforcement officer called in and asserted that when a mass shooter who knows how to run a pump shotgun uses one of those rather than a semi-auto AR...he'll redefine 'massacre'.
I've thought this for some time - well before the introduction of the new quickly reloadable DM shotguns - and have hesitated to even mention it.
No point giving anyone ideas.
But it's all out there now
It's only a matter of time.......

Shotguns have been used persistently in Mass-Shootings,but somehow the public is mesmerized by the AR-15 and similar Weapons!
Once they are banned,it is only a matter of time for the rest to follow.
Feinstein and the rest of the Gungrabbers aren't resting until all are banned,Feinstein said so,and for once she is speaking the Truth!
The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed
for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other
rights have failed - where the government refuses to stand
for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts
have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to
enforce their decrees. However improbable these
contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a
mistake a free people get to make only once.

If I could have banned them all...I would have!

Statement on TV program 60 Minutes, Feb 5 1995
Politicians consider banning weapons based on how 'scary' said weapons look to their constituents.
Point of historical reference -
During WWI, the U.S. determined that bolt action rifles weren't very effective in close quarter trench warfare.
The U.S. 'militarized' sporting pump shotguns such as Winchester's model '97 (introduced in EIGHTEEN-ninety-seven) loaded with 00 buckshot.
These 'trench guns' proved so effective that Germany officially protested their use as violating the rules of war, and summarily shot any soldier carrying one.
Mind you, Germany had introduced such innovations as the flame thrower & poison gas and perfected the concept of 'killing boxes' using heavy machine guns.
They were O.K. with all that.
But shotgunning their soldats?
UNCIVILIZED
Shotguns are still used by military forces.
The U.S. military issues a militarized version of Mossberg's 12 sporting pump action model 500 in twelve gauge.
These have a 9 shot tubular magazine; the usual load is nine pellets of 00 buckshot - essentially the same as was used a century ago in WWI trenches.
The militarized version of the AR-15 (M-16) is not sold to civilians.
Mossberg, however, sells the militarized version of their shotgun.
It is perfectly identical to those issued to U.S. troops.
Search - Mossberg 590a1
The DM shotguns provide all the lethality of the military issue Mossberg, with the upgrade of rapid reloading.
It may be presumed that the military will adopt the DM version - which is already on the civilian market.
In short, in this instance, the military must now upgrade...to maintain parity with the CIVILIANS!
Back to those gun laws that came out ,up here in the 90s, a lot of people (law biding gun owners ,including myself) quit hunting, target shooting, and competitive shooting, just to much hassle with registration, laws and so forth, but it didn t slow down the criminal element . If A R s were totally banned, some other firearm would replace it. Gun laws and banning certain firearms doesn t seem to bother the criminal element.
Oh yea, it's a hobbie to just shoot auto. Join the fkn military and live in whole.
Light recoil is NOT one of the more endearing qualities of a 12 ga. shotgun.
Here's another option - especially useful for people who use a 9mm handgun as it uses the same ammo & magazines.
Also, as Ms. LaCroix notes, 9mm ammo is affordable for folks who like to shoot a lot...
"I got me sumthin' to blow up!!"
BTW - I really enjoy Heather's vids. On account of she being so knowledgeable about firearms, y'all understand ...
People WILL arm themselves.
They'll either jump through the legal hoops, find or create loopholes, or break the law.
And the folks most willing to ignore/break laws regulating/prohibiting firearms are precisely the folks whose access to firearms should be regulated/prohibited.
The simple fact that criminals will violate gun control laws is patently, glaringly obvious to anyone with a shred of sense.
Here's another...
Dragon's Breath. What's NOT to like?
Kinda like the Country it represents.
This is training being done with the current U.S. military issue Mossberg 590a1.
Note that each shell is loaded separately; note also the time required to load the gun.
Compare that to the time required to load SIX shells in a magazine in the Remington 870 DM vid in the OP above
Spoiler alert!
The SIX rounds are loaded significantly MORE easily & quickly than just ONE round in the current military issue shotgun.
Yes. REALLY!
As noted previously in a comment above the military must now upgrade it's issue shotgun JUST TO MAINTAIN PARITY WITH WHAT'S NOW AVAILABLE TO CIVILIANS!
Did Mossberg anticipate that their upgraded Detached Magazine model would render their current 590a1obsolete?
And this would necessarily result in exceedingly lucrative military contracts for their upgraded model?
Yes.
I'm quite sure Mossberg anticipated such contracts when they undertook R&D on their upgraded model.
Gleefully so....
You may be absolutely certain of it!
Assuming this upgrade was undertaken in anticipation of a Hillary Clinton Prez'dency, do you think Mossberg will reward her with a cut of their forthcoming military contract windfall profits?
Mmmmm.......Nooo.....I'm quite sure they will NOT
Sorry Hildebeest!
Effectiveness of the "duck bill" attachment?
Note that the concept of the blunderbuss and that of the Duckbill Shot Spreader is essentially unchanged after 400 years.
The rate of fire & effective range, however, have increased exponentially.
Detachable Magazines & FliteControl Ammo are the latest advancements in the state of the art.
Except for that futuristic 20 round full auto gizmo, of course.
DAYUM, Y'all!
