Speed dating

You know FULL WELL what I mean rolling on the floor laughing

Picture it, you've been dating 3 months, and he leaves a note one day in wonky capitals saying 'theirs a dellivery cumming at 11' and you think uhoh -

and 5 minutes ain't long, you're going to want to compare notes ('didja notice number 4 snorts like a pig when he laughs?' or, 'that's odd, he told ME he was the youngest of 3, told you he's an only child, LIAR ALERT.)

Talking of liar, a joke doing the FB rounds, if a liar's pants really did go on fire, watching the news would be a lot more fun giggle

Even scarier that the mods have asked the political nutters to cut out the politics but by the time they did the loons were pretty much running the nuthouse and ignored them, and most of the sane - or bonkers-but-fun-with-it - had gone. But there are a few non-politicals left wine

Meeting in Spain - yup real meetings. Spain has a LOT of expats because the climate is reliably good, the cost of living better than most other European countries, standard of living much higher. It's also a seriously popular tourist destination, edging the US into 3rd spot, so anyone travelling from inside AND outside Europe gets a holiday and, if it works out, a new friend to show them round? No brainer.

Okay half my tally was bloggers meeting up where 3 lived here within an hour or two drive of Salobreña and 2 were on holiday, and a second trip featured an American blogger and his Malaysian wife, who met on CS, and chose southern Spain for a holiday for the same reason. There were 3 active popular and funny bloggers back then in Spain who have all given up in the face of the humourless dreary blogs which everyone now seems to prefer. Spain is still sunny and still the second most popular holiday destination in the world.

As for the other meets, expats will drive further to meet someone halfway than perhaps the average Joe would. Catch me, when I still lived in Scotland, driving more than half an hour for coffee??? but here it's a chance to see more of my new country, speak English, and if it works out (that giant if) weekends spent back and forth. Got a good buddy here who is in a longterm relationship, 2 years so far, with a woman who lives nearly an hour's drive away, that works out REALLY well for mature couples delighted to have together time but also used to lots of private time and keeping up with their local friends. In fact that's the dream, for many of us. Well, me. I like my down time. They'll end up fulltime together in the long run but for now are both very happy with the deal.

I am NOT a homewrecker. snooty

@ Grand

Why do you assume that I am uneducated and that I read M.S.M. The internet is full of sites all with varying information .

I am fully aware of what goes on behind closed doors and to be honest in front of them too.

You are obsessed with Trump as you are with Putin whereas I weigh up the pro's and con's .Do you honestly believe that the American courts have totally concocted ALL the charges against him? Had that been the case there would surely have been no charges to answer for.

Any idiot that brings the Bible into his promotional rants is a sandwich short of a picnic.Does he think he is the new Messiah? If so he too could end up being crucified .

As for You Tube it's a mixed bag and sometimes full of unreliable information.

No disrespect Grand but just because I disagree with you and others on here does not make me ill informed just not swayed by others opinions.handshake

America needs to shape up ,get rid of the clingons and rejuvenate some young blood into their politics as they are going down hill fast in many ways.handshake

Anyone know the significance of this gesture?

Old Time Superstitions & Charms

lol I had a cat that would sit at the base of a closet, compress herself like a spring, then explode in one jump and land on the top shelf well over my head. I don't know how many times her height that shelf was but it would probably be like you or I jumping like 50 feet uh oh

Old Time Superstitions & Charms

I have been trying to find a hag stone (rock with a naturally worn hole in it). They are supposed to bring good fortune to anyone with one.

As unbelievable as it sounds, not all of the old beliefs were false. I don't think that things are exactly the way they believed they were but I have seen enough to know that there is more to shit than we see.

RE: Speed dating

Haha I've met over a dozen people from CS, male and female, with both friendly or romantic intentions, but that was pre-Trump, happier times when there were lots of single people who wanted to connect other single people. Some are now in good relationships (one couple even via CS!) and some have given up trying to blog or even log in because what's the point and of course some were simply weird.

Bit like my premium bonds - never got a life-changing win, but occasionally a pay-out laugh

Almost scary to think of meeting people in real life without any idea whether they can even, you know, spell? wow

What is really scary is how most every blog not even associated with politics that somehow they always bring up the one person they despise and or fear. It's amazing how one person has such an impact on the multitude.

It's unique that nobody here will ever make such an impact on the lives of others here in the same manner.

As for meeting a dozen or so people from here was that in person within Spain? Or did they all spend the time and money to meet from all corners of the earth?

I hardly doubt that. Most would be lucky to chat one on one via Skype or some other platform.
I can't picture people coming from America or Asia to incorporate cost of flight and hotel to visit the friends they made here.
If everyone especially the boys here could afford to jet set and globe trot to meet women they would be able to attract a higher quality and caliber of people. Dr's lawyers Indian chiefs etc. not your average material handler in a factory or truck driver or medical assistant or Susie homewrecker.

Owning a piece of Trump... stock

Business Insider did a story claiming Trump got a $4 billion windfall after his merger...

"...now trading under the "DJT" ticker symbol, but experts doubt its longevity."

I always enjoy the reader comments:
"So are you telling me that someone who can bankrupt casinos where the house has a big edge is going to make a social network that no one reads than Trump people, make money for investors?"
"How does Truth Media with a financial record of losing $49 million so far merge with a company that has a financial record of consistent years of severe loses and presently has $1.5 million in assets and $25.5 million in debts manage to become a entity valued at $6+ billion ? The only thing I see coming from this merger is another Dumpster grift that ends in catastrophic bankruptcy for its investors."
"It’s all a fraud just like everything he’s ever been involved in. Boosting that stock now and will dump all his shares the minute he sees an out. Investors will lose their money and he walks away laughing at all the gullible masses."
"The guy was just found liable for "massive" and sustained fraud in New York. I don't think I would invest in any company of his. The only person going to make off of this is Trump. The investors will lose money."

Here is what you can do if you want to get up to speed on the corrupt crazy unlawful everyday business routine over there: you go to something called " youtube.com "
and then you look up " Tulsi Gabbard " (she ran as a presidential candidate for the Dems in 2020)
and the you can hear from her directly, who is very experienced in the field, what is actually the state of affars when it comes to american politics as of right now.

Then come here and tell me how DT (their prime suspect) is any worse,
and that is what o.p tried to show you in his long post above yours.

You could consider broaden your horizon some you know.

RE: God Bless the USA! Court Lowers Trump Bond From $464 Million to $175 Million. Due in 10 days.

Not long ago, the idea that a former president—or a major-party presidential nominee—would face serious legal jeopardy was nearly unthinkable. Today, merely keeping track of the many cases against Donald Trump requires a law degree, a great deal of attention, or both.

Fraud. Hush money. Election subversion. Mar-a-Lago documents.

Seriously there is no smoke without fire as we all know.sigh

God Bless the USA! Court Lowers Trump Bond From $464 Million to $175 Million. Due in 10 days.

Monday’s dramatic bond reduction for former President Donald Trump did nothing to dissipate the dark cloud that his civil-fraud case has cast over New York business deals.

Although investors won’t publicly admit it, the case is having a chilling effect, said Charles Trzcinka, professor of finance at Indiana University-Bloomington.

“If you talk to people in this market, they are very, very upset … and these are people who are neutral or even opposed to Trump,” Mr. Trzcinka told The Epoch Times. “They’re just angry about it.”

In his role at the university, Mr. Trzcinka said he places students in the corporate lending market in New York, making him aware of trends in that sphere.

An appeals court’s decision to slash the bond by about 60 percent, reducing it to $175 million, still left a massive penalty intact while President Trump continues a legal challenge of Justice Arthur Engoron’s ruling.

Judge Engoron ruled that President Trump and his associates fraudulently overvalued their assets. But Mr. Trzcinka said anyone who thinks President Trump’s activities in that case were irregular or fraudulent may lack an understanding of typical New York business transactions.

A source familiar with the case explained to The Epoch Times that, normally, business-related cases are handled in the New York courts’ commercial division.

There, cases are decided by judges who have specific, “sophisticated” knowledge of commercial law and business practices.

But the case didn’t go that route because New York Attorney General Letitia James found a novel way to use New York’s anti-fraud law.

Researchers examined other alleged fraud cases in New York over a 70-year period and found the Trump case stands alone. The Trump Organization was the only company that confronted the possibility of being forced out of business despite no victim suffering major financial harm.
Because of Ms. James’ unusual application of the law, the case was channeled to a court that would rarely, if ever, handle business-related matters.

Thus, the source said, “This case proceeded in just a highly irregular fashion from the start.”

A Degree of Horror’

Legal scholar Jonathan Turley agreed the case is atypical and its repercussions far-reaching.
“This has really done great damage to the New York legal system … Businesses are looking at this with a degree of horror—that a judge could come up with a figure so large you have to sell parts of your business just to get an appeal,” Mr. Turley told Fox News.
However, people who dislike President Trump are cheering on Ms. James. She ran for election on a promise to prosecute the former president if she won the post of attorney general.

Before the court-ordered bond reduction, the original $464 million bond amount included a $363 million judgment that Judge Engoron levied against President Trump and his associates, plus 9 percent interest.

Speaking to reporters after the March 25 appellate court’s decision, President Trump called Judge Engoron’s original decision a “disservice” to New York.

“Businesses are fleeing,” he said.

The case promises to continue discouraging investors from doing business in the Empire State, Mr. Trzcinka and two other knowledgeable sources told The Epoch Times.

That’s not only because of the crippling dollar amounts involved, the sources said, but also because President Trump and his associates were behaving within the bounds of normal business practice and victimized no one.

“All the parties under this civil case were satisfied,” Mr. Trzcinka said. Yet Ms. James “brought a case without a victim” and secured a judgment approaching $500 million.

“I have never heard of a victimless civil case that even won $500,” he said.

RE: Old Time Superstitions & Charms

Paranormal is always impossible until you see it and superstitions and charms are scoffed until someone gets a hit.

If you never had a cat it would seem impossible a fat cat could jump from a sitting start onto a kitchen counter. Not paranormal, obviously, just an observation.

I had a recurring ant problem in Scotland, traps everywhere, the air often filled with the chemical stink of spray. A colleague said to me 'ask them to leave'. Feeling something of a tit, I did. They left. wow

Tried it in Spain, explaining in both English and halting Spanish that I couldn't have them around and would have to try to kill them if they didn't go. They left.

Pure coincidence, of course. But coincidentally it has worked 4 times for me in the last, hmm, 8 years. Lucky that.

RE: Speed dating

If the organiser does get back to you, perhaps they could put women who have expressed an interest in touch with each other.

That way you could meet up first, park next to each other and have someone to debrief with afterwards.

Talking about the experience surely has to be half the fun of it. dunno

RE: Not a terrorist act

Per The Washington Post:

The alarms first sounded on the Dali around 1:24 a.m. Tuesday, an NTSB official said in a Wednesday evening news conference, citing preliminary information from the container ship’s voice data recorder.

About a minute and a half later, the ship’s pilot used a high-frequency radio to request assistance, helping to alert the on-duty Maryland Transportation Authority officer. The pilot called for “tugs in the vicinity,” which help vessels leave the port and get into its main channel. Before the Dali hit the bridge, it had no tugs. Thirty seconds later, the pilot ordered the ship’s anchor to be dropped and gave “additional steering commands,” said Marcel Muise, the lead investigator.

At 1:27 a.m., the pilot reported that the Dali had lost all power and was approaching the bridge, Muise said. At the time, there were two Maryland Transportation Authority units at the scene because of the ongoing construction, and those units shut down all lanes of traffic on the bridge, according to Muise.
He said the voice data recorder captured “sounds consistent with the collision” at 1:29 a.m. Around this time, the lights on the Key Bridge also went out.

Watch the entire press conference below:
