This idea would apply to all. As long as people hold resentments of the past of what could or would be or been, there is an element of mistrust with self judgment. Greater are regrets of things we should or could have experienced than the things we already have experienced. Many profiles of people here love to point out the things they don't want in a relationship than the lofty unrealistic things they do want in a relationship. Perhaps, what the author is saying unless or until people stop projecting their past failures and assumptions and mistrust of the world around them, opportunities will open.Know thyself comes to mind. You get what you give. If you want love, health, healing, and knowledge of self, one has to be willing to give it.
In theory this may sound good but, in practical application many fail or there would not be so much wrong in the world today.
Real freedom is letting go of all that binds us in our thoughts and actions. Letting go of hate, fear, prejudice, anger, resentment. How can the world heal if it still harbors these things?
If people want love and compassion they must start offering it. Not selectively according to ego but, equally to all.
Nevertheless, this response will be challenged.

Ron Goldman I believe was not her lover but a friend...he also worked at the restaurant Nicole went to the night of the murder...he was dropping off glasses that were forgotten at the table...Simpson was jealous and he believed he owned her despite that they were separated and also OJ did have extra marital affairs...go figure...
Ron was in the wrong place at the wrong time but he would have been jealous of him just because he was at Nicole's house...and yes OJ was a big guy and no match for Ron or Nicole...

Gone...Race had something to do with it...at least I think so but not in the way the previous poster stated...
OJ was famous...he was known to abuse Nicole but at the time I think he got a pass with his behaviour...not unlike many pro sports players...but keep in mind of Rodney King debacle and the LA riots...all points in the direction of police brutality towards people of colour...or the uprising of people of colour fed up with the system that does little to protect/respect them...
Add in a racist cop...lets face it...he should have been honest...and the gloves were just a distraction...smoke and mirrors...
The unfortunate cost of this problem with 'the system'...was Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman...
That is why some people (IMO) cheered for OJ...not out of disrespect for Nicole or Ron...

I am sure that is how many people feel...but now that OJ is gone...let's hope the children (OJ and Nicole) can be left alone...

I've just started watching it and two things strike me about the prologue:It's predominantly older women and women of colour wearing white. I wonder if younger white women haven't the same historical reference points to conceptualise how the US has just made women second class citizens. Women are no longer considered capable of making decisions in the same way as men are in the US.
Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty chuffed that there are generations of women who maybe don't carry the burden of oppression to the full extent that older women and women of colour do. By the same token, I'm not sure they realise what's hit them yet and that pains me.
The second thing is how happy and affectionate the response is to Biden's entrance is. They all want to touch him and speak with him which has surprised me given his 'creepy Joe' reputation. He's practically getting mauled out there.
The Biden smiles and his giving out warmth in the face of adoration are in stark contrast to the Mussolini downturned mouth sneers that Trump does when he's taking adoration to bolster his own sense of self-worth.
Trump gatherings are rather menacing by contrast.
None of this should be a surprise and yet it is. I think I have become desensitised to some aspects of the social dynamic in the US simply because so much has become normalised that really shouldn't have been.

This presupposes that China, NK and Russia are typical landgrabbers, no reason to believe that. It's all been of rather good reasons and that goes for Taiwan as well. Don't start not potential ww3 over stuff that is faaar outside of our roam. It also might give a reason why at such a young age, Chambers was using drugs and stealing as well as getting kicked out of multiple schools and poor grades...
